Meijer has known for almost 2 years that the 2022 election was going to be tough for Republicans.

Unfortunately, most Republicans, including the ones on this board, don't realize how ****ed-up their party has become. This is what Meijer had to say this week. --

By midnight on January 6, it was obvious that if we continued to sleepwalk down the path of crazy we’d face a rude awakening,” he said. “Instead of facing those facts, the GOP spent the last two years heading in the same direction and actively avoiding any internal reckoning. After Tuesday, we have no choice but to heed voters when they say that ‘the grass is green, the sky is blue, and by the way, you just got your ass handed to you.’ But waking up to that reality is going to be rough.”

Republicans,

Most Americans simply don't trust you guys to run our government anymore. That is why you all performed so poorly this election. Based on historical trends, you all should have picked up a minimum of 25 - 30 House seats.

The Democrats are going to increase their Senate majority and they may even hold onto the House. Mark Kelly just won his Senate race in AZ and Cortez-Masto is going to win her Senate race in NV as well.

TURN OUT THE LIGHTS....THE PARTY'S OVER

Couldn't help myself. Had to break out some Dandy Don from Monday Night Football fame

Kelly the winner in Arizona. Lazalt going down in flames in Nevada. The next batch of Clark County votes should be the last nail in his coffin.

That makes the Georgia runoff simply a matter of whether the DEM's just regain control of the Senate or have control + 1 in the Senate.

Idiot Kari Lake may not even survive the Arizona governor's race.

As for the House, the GOP will not end up with enough of a majority to do anything. They will squabble, backbite, barroom brawl and effectively show the American public that they are a bunch of goons if we did not know that already. If that is not enough of a laugh fest, we get to watch brooding Donnie destroy what is left of the GOP while he fights off all of his legal issues. Could not happen to a nicer bunch of FAT, OLD WHITE GUYS.

Oh and watch what happens to Walker in Georgia. He is not going to know what hit him. "Where are you tearful Lindsey? I thought you really cared. How about you Ted and you Mitch. Thought you guys were going to come run interference for me."

"Sorry Hershel, you're old news now"

Based on the votes that just came out of Maricopa County, there is a very good chance that Kari Lake is not going to be able to catch Dobbs.

That would be great not only for Arizona, but the entire country! It's bad enough that a Repug election-denier like Lombardo just won the NV governor's race, we definitely don't need a second election-denier crazy like Lake as AZ governor.

The good news is that the Repug election-deniers running for Secretary of State in AZ and NV both lost.

A party that can barely pick up half a dozen seats in both houses of Congress in a time of record inflation, economic turmoil with a dotty uninspiring President like Joe Biden at the helm definitely needs more than a moment of careful self examination to determine what they are actually going to provide to the voters.

It is not enough to denigrate and attack the Democratic Party for its politicians’ general corruption, mismanagement, incompetence and lack of values and vision and hope to win. Especially when the Republican Party has demonstrated an even greater degree of general corruption, mismanagement, incompetence and lack of values and vision.

It's a truism in politics that if all you do is constantly attack your opponent, you just don't have much good to say about yourself.

I heard a pundit lawyer say on a news show the other day: All republicans have to do is STOP LYING.

Short sweet and to the point. The GOP has been gaslighting the American people badly since Jan. 6th, and before.

'Kids using litter boxes in elementary schools.' Need I say more !!!!!!!!

All roads lead to Trump.

As long as they let him control them and they stick with January 6th and the relentless election denying then and now in PA and AZ, they will struggle.

It reminds voters of their corruption and hostility to democratic principles.

It is a nasty, negative look.

Frankly, it's pretty surprising they're in a position to be so competitive. Money helps, eh?

If the Dems prevail, govern reasonably well and inflation eases, 2024 could be the blood for the GOP that they truly deserve.

I have always believed that good things come to those who have patience. I can wait two years, no problem.

Gerrymandering and voter suppression helps, too. The Democrats would be in a much better position to keep the House right now if those two things weren't happening.

And maybe Johnson would have lost the WI Senate race as well, if not for WI's notorious record when it comes to voter suppression.

This election has shown that most Americans really do care about preserving democracy and that they have serious concerns about Republican extremism and corruption. That is definitely a positive sign for the future.

In touch with what? Social media rumors?

If Democrats are out of touch with what rumors are saying on social media that may not be such a bad thing.

The American people are out of touch. They are infotained rather than informed.

We need a well-informed public, not one that trends with rumors.

Actually, Democrats had New York fairly well gerrymandered in their favor. That got undone by court action, which led to some Republican pick-ups.

It would be nice to see more Republican gerrymandering get undone by courts.

It would help restore faith in government.

There is a lot more Republican gerrymandering than Democrat.

No doubt. Right now, Republicans have huge advantages in FL, OH, and WI, due to gerrymandering.

I agree with what the NY Democrats tried to do. If Republicans are going to cheat with impunity, then the Democrats have no choice but to try to tilt the balance in their favor as well in order to try to preserve democracy in this country.

Ask David Brooks what he meant. I can't speak for him.
If Democrats are out of touch with what rumors are saying on social media that may not be such a bad thing.
Unless the result is that they don't respond, and the rumors spread misinformation ... in which case Democrats should be in touch with it.

Agreed.
