Republicans seek IRS probe of AARP

This is interesting since old people is one of the republican's core base.

That has nothing to do with being against the AARP, I said in an earlier post my wife and I ripped up our cards and told them to take us off all mailing lists, I recieve Nothing from the AARP anymore. They outright lied to seniors about obamacare, they blindly supported it without having a clue what was going to be in the bill.

A look behind the curtain at why AARP endorsed Obamacare:

Not convinced they should at least be investigated?

» Behind the Curtain: Why AARP Supports ObamaCare - Big Government

Grants up $20 million in 2010. Who says you can't bribe a nonprofit into selling out its membership?

The GOP has ALWAYS hated seniors and sees them as moochers. They would love nothing more than to eliminate social security (They have been trying to do it for decades) and screw seniors to benefit their corporate bedbuddies.

Laughable comment but not surprising coming from you. Seniors preferred Republicans by a 19 point margin in the 2010 election.

Seniors have almost always voted conservatively.

I agree...but there are a lot of people who are for whatever reason are republican and vote against their own interests. If you are working class, middle class, gay, minority, any religion other than "Christian"....I cannot understand WHY you would ever vote Republican. The GOP cares about no one other than the Wealthy....right-wing so called "Christians" and whites.

What has the Democrat Party done for you?

Besides try to control every aspect of your entire life........

Yes it is and the old people were pretty po'ed at AARP over Obamacare. Looks like the Republicans know what they are doing.

....well you dont want one of those EVIL CORPORATIONS skipping out on a tax bill it should be paying...........do you?
.
.
.

No I don't. Why should they be able to not pay taxes when I have to?

I don't like large taxes on corporations, but I do think they should have to pay the taxes they are legally obligated to pay. Like I am.

Refusal to compromise on what?

Let's try an example to demonstrate conservative hubris:

In 2009:
House Democratic leaders on Tuesday unveiled a sweeping $1 trillion health care reform bill that would impose a surtax on the wealthy and create a robust government-run insurance program that would cover more than 30 million uninsured Americans.*

Obviously, this wasn't the whole bill, and it certainly wasn't the bill that passed, but I think we can work from here. Conservatives successfully fought against this proposal. I won't, yet, get into what did eventually pass because I first want to ask you a question:

First, propose a conservative solution, and then describe a compromise solution somewhere in between the proposal democrats fielded, and your own. Show me that a conservative is willing to compromise.

I was tepid toward the bill that eventually passed, it being watered way down, but felt it was better than nothing. And it was a bill that faced some of the trade offs in a creative manner, well suited as a compromise for a diverse population. I soon realized that the country was not ready for the necessities that are inevitable, but that is beside the point. I accepted the compromise, along with many, many other liberals.

So tell me, I ask again, what does it look like when conservatives compromise?

:rofl Not compromising on that was piece of crap was why the republicans were given a second chance in 2010. They've promised to repeal it.
Sure the bill had a couple good things in it, but you don't take a few fresh vegetables, add it to a pile of dog **** and be expected to eat your vegetables.
Let's just keep the veggies..'K?

Take it easy, so one said a word about going after seniors.

AARP has fooled people for years into thinking they were out to help people.

However the fact is AARP is in it for the cash profits and if by some chance a Senior benefits well that's okay.

AARP is like the Environmentally Ill Organizations that may have at some point had a mission worthy of our support but those days have long since past.

Why do you think AARP backed Obama Care? It was because AARP has their own supplemental Insurance and stands to make a bundle off it.

Thank you for proving my point: conservatives are congenitally unable to even conceive of what compromise is. This lack of imagination also explains why they interpret events as entirely supportive of their agenda, even in the face of much evidence to the contrary.

I rest my case. Thanks again.

And of course it should. AARP is a special interest lobbying group and it certainly does not represent "senior citizens" as a group. It's always touting left wing causes and thus cannot be said to be unbiased or even representative of those over 55.

Because they care about America, of course. Voting Republican is the only effective way of voting against the Democrats, and we all know how much they hate the ideas America was founded on.

No I don't. Why should they be able to not pay taxes when I have to?

I don't like large taxes on corporations, but I do think they should have to pay the taxes they are legally obligated to pay. Like I am.

Because no business entity ever pays taxes. That particular expense is passed on to the customer, so it's the American citizen paying the tax, not the business.

First, propose a conservative solution,

1) "Hey, look! You're sick. Hope you have enough money to pay for your doctor. Perhaps it's a shame the Congress didn't exercise it's real authority under the Commerce Clause to allow interstate health insurance shopping. It opted instead to presume powers it did not have to impose government bureaucracy on the nation's health care. That worked well for the DMV, it will work well for your TB and HIV."

2) "Hey, look! You're sick. Gee, I bet you're wishing you bought insurance for yourself like mature adults are supposed to, now aren't you. Tell you what, that Rolex you're wearing? I'll give you ten bucks for it."

3) "Hey, look! You're sick. And you had the sense to buy insurance for yourself. And it carries a catastrophic rider because your appendicitis is going to cost a fortune. Good thing you had enough sense to act like a grown up."

The alternative:

1) "Hey, look! You're sick. Let's see here....your National ID says you're 79 years old....retired...hmmmm..your tax records show you have three million dollars in assets....good thing we made it illegal for private doctors to operate in the US on anyone but Congressmen and their families. Since you are no longer a productive member of society, your request for treatment is denied. Please inform your heirs that your estate will be mostly the government's soon."

2) "Ew. I don't have to talk to you, I'm in the union and I'm just required to sit in this receptionist's chair, I DO NOT have to talk to you sick people. Sure am glad the government took over the nation's health care. I feel fine. I used to work for the TSA."

There's no compromise between the free market and the controlled market. Government health care won't work, Obamacare is proving this.

Clearly, AARP, like teachers, is an evil that must be destroyed. Welcome to America. It sucks ass lately.

I guess we will see a sting video real soon from Fox's fave undercover guy.

I support this, they market health care insurance for United Health Care, I don't see why they should have a special tax status.
