But our government shut down.
The Trump Republicans have all that power, rarely granted in our history.
The Trump Republicans are telling us - loudly - that they are so incompetent that - even with all that power - they cannot keep the government running.
Wow.

Time for a change, folks.

VOET THEM OUT.
VOTE THEM ALL OUT.

The passive aggressiveness by Republicans is the worst.

They can invoke the nuclear option in the Senate and pass appropriations anytime.

It is their own exclusive choice not to do so.

They’d rather inflict damage and pain. I guess.

It may be uncontrollable. The fuse of the apocalypse may have been lit. There's no longer the "sanity" of the U.S. on which to rely. In fact, it's the exact opposite now with the very obviously decaying and insane felon president circling the drain, and his mini-me disgrace waiting in the wings. If the shit show of the last week doesn't spell disaster, I would be shocked, I tell you!

Senate Democrats have shut down the government in an effort to regain the COVID-era subsidies that the Republican-led Congress chose not to renew in the budget bill signed in July.

The Senate Republicans don’t need a single Dem vote to pass a CR.

Many are supposedly grown, tough men who always have to be a victim.

Take a step back and understand what that really means. What they're really like in real life. From business to their personal lives to their sex lives to their place in society and their relationships.

It all adds up if you take the time to to understand it. They're not competitive enough (I'm many cases) so they have to use the power of the federal government to try to save them/make them superior while playing the victim.

That's tons of red flags. They should be seeing shrinks instead of voting.

And I sometimes wish those old curmudgeons/constant victims would have been able to run faster or jump higher or dance better or have more game with women. We probably wouldn't be in this mess.

No they don’t. They only need 51 votes twice. They can pass a budget any time they want to without a single Dem vote.

You are wrong.

The Senate tradition of unlimited debate has allowed for the use of the filibuster, a loosely defined term for action designed to prolong debate and delay or prevent a vote on a bill, resolution, amendment, or other debatable question. Prior to 1917 the Senate rules did not provide for a way to end debate and force a vote on a measure. That year, the Senate adopted a rule to allow a two-thirds majority to end a filibuster, a procedure known as "cloture." In 1975 the Senate reduced the number of votes required for cloture from two-thirds of senators voting to three-fifths of all senators duly chosen and sworn, or 60 of the 100-member Senate.

clo·ture
  1. (in a legislative assembly) a procedure for ending a debate and taking a vote; closure:
"over 70 of the senators voted for cloture"
    "a cloture motion"

Cool. The filibuster is not a requirement. The Republicans can remove it at any time with a 51 vote majority. Then they can pass the spending bill with another 51 vote majority.

They don’t need a single Dem vote.

The republicans had the option to change the rules, but they decided to maintain the 60-vote requirement to close the debate - cloture.

Indeed. Republicans chose to shutdown the government. Thank you for agreeing with me.

Your opinion of my post is a lie.

You can stop now.

You're missing the mark on every point.

You stated plainly that Republicans chose not to end the filibuster even though they could pass the budget if they did. They chose shut down.

Senate Democrats have shut down the government in an effort to regain the COVID-era subsidies that the Republican-led Congress chose not to renew in the budget bill signed in July.
The Republicans are too incompetent to keep the government running.

Your opinion of my post is a lie.

You seem ignorant of the rules of the Senate.

Your words: “The republicans had the option to change the rules, but they decided to maintain the 60-vote requirement to close the debate - cloture.”

You are agreeing the Republicans chose to shutdown the government rather than change filibuster rules.

Uh, newsflash, the dems are totally out of power. For those not paying attention, the government was shut down by those in power to do it: that's rii-iight, The Trumplicans.

If Republicans controlled all that then why is the government shut down? If they owned it all they could just do whatever they wanted and keep the government open - their way. So, apparently, you are wrong.

You are asking the right question.
They do control "all that".
The answer to your question is that they want to.

If they owned it all they could just do whatever they wanted and keep the government open - their way. So, apparently, you are wrong.
They could. They have chosen not to do so.
