Only one day after the Cerberus Capital Management company donated $110,000.00 to Representative Jerry Lewis, he voted for a Navy project that was badly needed by that firm. Now, some of you will say this is coincidence, but the clincher is that Cerberus had never donated money to Lewis before. What is even more damning, is Lewis criticism of the project in 2002, before he voted for it.

Lewis himself had criticized the Navy-Marine computer project in October 2002, telling The Washington Post he was not satisfied with its progress. He also said he was concerned about MCI's involvement. "When you have a big piece of the pie in trouble, it just gums up a process that already has great difficulty," he said.
If it walks like a bribe and quacks like a bribe, its a bribe.

Well did they fix the problem that was holding up the progress? Were his concerns about MCI satisfied? If they were and those were his only problems with the project why would he not vote for it? Maybe his critisism whipped them into shape and a needed project.

:2rofll: I thought the thread was about him too....

As for the gist of it.: it's not the first time and won't be the last that palms are greased by anyone who has a vested interest in something. If politicians weren't for sale, tobacco would have been outlawed 20 years ago and hdybrid and/or electric cars would be the norm.
