The “enforcing the law” defense is meaningless.

You think it is appropriate for a literal secret police to choke out an abuela that overstayed her visa, say so. Stop standing behind “the law” (in a lawless nation no less) for your American gulag archipelago fantasies.

Then we should also be stripping police of their badges and pensions for apprehending bank robbers, white-collar fraudsters, and murderers. They're just enforcing the law, but "that defense is meaningless."

Hell, anyone involved in Trump's apprehension needs to go to PRISON!

But I'm sure that's different for reasons you can't articulate in a point finer than "BUT TRUMP IS BAD!"

"Literal" is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. Your crane is snapping apart. The existence of ICE is no secret. Its employees wear badges. That they don't identify themselves and detail the charges for which they are taking a person into custody to every Tom, Dick, and Harry who demands to know what's going on while they are in the middle of an apprehension doesn't make them "secret."

No one should be "choked out" for no reason other than they overstayed their period of admission. But they should not be immune from being taken into custody and processed for removal.

Enforcing the law means obeying the Judges orders. They aren't doing that. Enforcing the law means obedience to the Constitution. They aren't doing that. It means caring for those whom you detain. They aren't doing that.

They aren't enforcing the laws. They aren't obeying the law.

Once you swear an oath to uphold the constitution, obeying illegal orders and unlawfully harming people under your legal authority subjects you to termination and even criminal prosecution. It’s called “deprivation of rights under color of law.”
