Not hearing much about that these days.

For a little bit, we had a bunch of righties on the board getting all excited about the idea of starving NYC (and possibly the whole state) after one guy got online and started talking crap. I mean, I see a few fake news articles like the Governor of New York was going to seize the bank accounts of truckers...and that pictures that show empty shelves in grocery stores were debunked as it was proven they were taken during pandemic....and that no one can verify an actual trucking boycott. Anecdotally, folks I know in NYC are just fine and are not aware of any significant trucking boycott of the city.

And even Chicago Ray, the guy who called for it...backed off and walked it back.

For those of you who really thought this was going to happen and were gung ho for it....what's your take? Any excuses? I'm curious....

I knew that wasn't going to effect anything. Most of the drivers in these big cities are local/regional drivers in daycab trucks, who are home each day.....the OTR truckers mostly drop/pick up in warehouse locations outside of the cities. Besides not as many independent truckers today as in the past, as they've made it far too expensive to own and operate a semi-truck.

Truckers in the US go on strike for working conditions to include wages rather than for some national political purpose. While many truckers have nasty politics it's prices costs and hours that stop 'em, not politics. Trump was all for it until he recognized nothing was afoot, then he said no truckers had talked to him about it. As if that were decisive.

But there's still a civil war coming.

Oy.

A tempest in a thimble. There's a disconnect between noise and action.

Regards, stay safe 'n well . . . informed.

Righties hoping that the truckers will get to "own" the libs got owned themselves.

Happens all the time, but Righties are so monumentally stupid they don't know when they are getting owned. Keep sending your $$ to Trump because he will use it on his campaign to win back the Presidency. Sure sure. Suckers.

There’s one positive note to add to all this turmoil. People in the United States who vote, have never been more aware of what’s at stake than they are today. Most Americans don’t follow the political news that closely, but this year it’s different. By September, there’s going to be a hyper pitch of Russian propaganda spread among Americans that if Joe Biden is reelected, ‘the country is done for.’ Voters will make sure they get out to the polls and I think they’re going to vote for Joe Biden.

Republicans in swing states are getting ready for a big turnout for Joe Biden. They’ll have alternate electors. They will scream “rigged, election“ and refuse to accept the outcome, they’re getting their lawyers lined up and prepared to take it to court where their Republican judges will rule in their favor. So, be prepared for a big mess.

Oh no! Not the horrible 'they' at it again.

Kinda no point in that, as international Republicans tell me that Russia's gonna nuke everything.

It's quite remarkable how quickly conspiracy theories take hold on the right. It is fascinating. I think it's something in their personality or psyche. It definitely is a specific way of thinking and looking at the world.

Per the news its seem all the trucks are stuck in Cali snow drifts.

ON then positive thats refilling the Northern Cali reservoirs. We need about a foot of rain here (not at one time please!)

When I was growing up, that was not a thing.

The guy who was talking about it on social media had never driven anything to NYC, so whether he boycot or not would all in all have no meaning. And he backtracked a few days later anyways.

Those big trucks are not even allowed in NYC. They deliver to distribution centers. Never thought it was an issue; just a lot of hyperbole
