So did he hate the dog more - his girlfriend more for killing, skinning, cooking and feeding the dog to her and later informing her of it and sending her to chopped off paws, or was he going to snuff her later with the weapons? That dog may have saved the girlfriends life though. What a sick and sad story all around. This is why we need to bring back the mental institutions.
 
Wow. They charged him with animal cruelty but not with unlawful possession of a fully automatic firearm? That seems strange...

A very sick individual --- that takes a whole heck of a lot of hate. To kill, skin and cook your girlfriends pet and feed it to her? We're talking Hanibal the Canibal levels of hate here...

The terms assault rifle and scary black semi-automatic rifle are interchangeable by the media now.

The idea may be to have the reader associate owners of scary black rifles with sadistic puppy eaters.

Or just cultural differences, they do eat dogs in other countries. Maybe he was just broadening they culinary spectrum. [/sarcasm]

When I see a story like that I go from the incorrect use of the term "assault rifle" to questioning the integrity of the rest of the story.

The author wished to stress that this nut was a gun owning nut - if the dog was killed with a golf club then the crucial fact that the nut owned a gun would have still appeared in the story.
 



If I understand this correctly....

The man killed the dog and fed it to her, a poor man's Hannibal Lecter, he later rubs it in like some animal Ted Bundy, with ample evidence that he is not only violent, but psychotic...

And he is charged with a misdemeaner in "animal cruelty"....and they ignore the fact he has an assault rifle?

Ah, at the very least, held pending psychiatric investigation, and an injunction ban on weapons or coming within 100 metres of the woman

Yeah, you're right. They probably misunderstood the police when they said "cooked a dog." Could have been anything.
