It's certainly possible- but it is unrealistic to assume that criminals are infinitely resourceful, we know that they are not.
Which is why vehicle security is stagnant, the governments data bases are secure, banks never update security and the moon is made of green cheese.
I have heard some really stupid statements in my life but this one is right there at the top.
"Keyless” car theft, which sees hackers target vulnerabilities in electronic locks and immobilizers, now accounts for 42 percent of stolen vehicles in London. BMWs and Range Rovers are particularly at-risk, police say, and can be in the hands of a technically minded criminal within 60 seconds.
You can make a machine gun in a garage with store purchased components using nothing but common tools.
