True, to paraphrase Will Rogers, we’re all socialists, except on different subjects. I think the left gets this; the right does too, but can’t admit it. I remember when the ACA was being considered, some conservative said they opposed it cause they didn’t want another program (presumably like SS and Medicare) that might become desirable and hard to attack, and show again that the government could do good things.

We have had national health care in various forms for generations, covering tens of millions of us, perhaps upwards of 100 million. What is so objectionable in principle about extending it to everyone, and how would doing so be different in principle than how various taxes pay for various other services that benefit some or all of us? If we elect people who will pass legislation to provide UHC, we will get it. If not, we won’t. We can, and in my view should, make the same decision so many other countries have made, no doubt designing our plan differently given the size and diversity of the country. If, on the other hand, you can convince the government that it would be better for all of us to leave things as they are, or repeal the ACA, Medicare, et al., that may happen.

Medicare is funded through payroll taxes, private insurance is funded out of taxable income. For 35 years I contributed along with my employer to Medicare through FICA. I suggest that members of the left learn what taxes they pay and their purpose.

For a start I assume you went to school. Then you have a lifetime of fire and police coverage and that before we get into the nitty gritty of living in the best defended country on Earth, that doesn't come cheap.

Yep, all funded by state and local taxes not federal taxes, you really don't have a clue what taxes are being paid in the US and for what purpose. People choose where to live and that determines what property taxes they pay and it is property taxes that fund schools.
