Florida collected $760 billion in property taxes in 2023.

That's a big number to make up.

Property taxes are an abomination. You basically have to pay rent to the government for life. I've known many people on fixed incomes who had to sell their homes because the couldn't afford to pay the rent demanded by rotten government.
 
That does not compute. With a population of 23.37 million that's $32,500 per person annually. Have I misplaced a zero. or something?
 
Hmmmm...Florida already charges no state tax.....sounds to me like desperate DeSantis is sucking up to the orange clown once again.....How the hell is this state, who's losing insurers by the droves, going to stay afloat???

Oh, that's right! NO ONE in the corrupt republican party cares, as long as these greedy politicians like washed up DeSantis get their recognition...
 
Maybe he's trying to offset the disaster they've created in the insurance and condo markets.

I get that, but the state doesn't run on nothing either....just sayin'... the lure of living in the sunshine state has lost it's luster. Unless you have the cash to rebuild your home after every devestating storm....

In Florida, we have a Homestead Exemption. I won't bore you with the details, but for instance a $175,000 property that is homesteaded pys about $300 a year in property tax. The same property would about $2,000 a year if it were a rental or a second home.

This is becoming pretty standard. The red states are ditching property taxes and income taxes in favor of sales tax which, of course, is the most regressive tax available to them since it hits those at the bottom of the economic scale as a greater percentage of their income. Always screw those at the bottom while reducing taxes on the uber-wealthy is their constant credo.

Water
Sewer
Hospitals
Equipment

The anarchist position is irrelevant to those who agree to having an ordered society according to some kind of social contract. There was this one NH town that Big-L Libertarians took over (aka anarchists) and everything broke. You didn't move there. You also didn't move to broken parts of Somolia with no organized government; their government was the local strongman warlord. Instead you sat in the comfort of a very much not libertarian society to post your screeds.

Which tells me something about the veracity and sincerity in your belief of not having government tell people what to do. Does it tell you anything about that?
 
With cuts to FEMA DeSantis will have to foot the entire bill for this coming hurricane season.

Oh please, even you don't believe there's anything close to a "social contract".

We have the technology today to put this supposed contract in writing. If we did, no one would be stupid enough to sign it, since doing so would give the rotten government a blank check on everything you own.

The average annual property tax bill in Florida is $2,386 from what I can find online. That's not bad.
