READ IT AND DENY IT IF YOU CAN

It’s Bill OReilly whom most liberals/progressives despise, but read the OP. It will take two or three minutes to finish. Read it and deny the truth of it.
He’s right about the tribe thing but gets many details wrong in describing tribal identity or behavior.

This bit of misinformation a few paragraphs in stopped me.

"....the collapse of US border security, and a vicious rise in violent crime that is harming urban Americans at a frightening clip."

Facts matter.

Border security has not collapsed.

Yes crime is up a bit, but still way below where it was in past decades.

The lies need to stop.

Mr O'Reilly's 'knowledge' of American History is laughable. Robert E Lee was not the leader of the "second tribe", he was the commanding general of the Army of Northern Virginia becoming the overall commander of the Confederate army toward the end of the Civil War. The president of the Confederacy was Jefferson Davis.

"bitterness and prejudice lingered" - Yes, supporters of the Confederacy maintained their beliefs in the inferiority of those Black Americans and once Reconstruction ended, southern states passed multiple laws discriminating against those "inferior beings"

" support robust education both in school and at home" - Yeah, as long as the "robust education" ignores proven academic practice.

Total collapse is pending:

El Paso mayor declares 'state of emergency' as border city prepares for crossings to skyrocket 'from 2,500 to 4,000, 5,000, maybe 6,000' a day when Trump-era policy expires this week

  • El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser declared a state of emergency, saying the migrant crisis in the border town was beginning to threaten the safety of residents
  • Leeser said 2,500 migrants are arriving in El Paso daily those numbers are likely to more than double as Trump-era border legislation, Title 42, expires this week
  • Title 42 was enacted in March 2020 to ostensibly control COVID-19 transmission at the border, but has been used to ease border control ever since
  • Last week Denver also declared a state of emergency in preparation for the expiration of Title 42

Why would anyone read something written by Bill Clinton?
I agree. No reason at all.
Both have very similar issues. Both are brilliant men with valuable insight and experience.
Uh... Bill O'Reilly is very far from brilliant. Bring him here. I'll show you.

I actually scanned through his essay. Utter, self-serving hateful bunk.

Yeah, that caught my attention, too. Is Reilly really that ignorant... to name a military officer as leader of the tribal breakup?

"The first, we'll call Tribe number one. These are traditional folks who generally follow the rules and believe America remains the land of opportunity. They purchase homes, invest in financial markets, and support robust education both in school and at home. They generally accept the pathway their parents followed. They buy into capitalism and the belief that the USA is essentially a generous, noble nation."

1) Apparently the members of Tribe 1 overwhelmingly supported Donald J Trump, the sitting-President who directed his followers to storm the Capitol Building on January 6th - in an effort to disrupt the joint session of Congress receiving the Electoral College votes!

2) The vast majority of those "Crunchtime" would have us believe "are traditional folks who generally follow the rules and believe America remains the land of opportunity," continue to support the leader who advocates "for the termination of all rules, regulations and articles, even those found in the Constitution!"

3) The presumptive Republican Presidential nominee for 2024 continues to argue his right to unilaterally predetermine the "RIGHTFUL WINNER" of elections, irrespective of the popular vote - he and his followers contend that despite 60 unsuccessful challenges to the outcome of the 2020 Election, the Founding Fathers would support the violation of their oath of allegiance, suspension of the Constitution and allowing disgruntled losing candidates the right to assume power, irrespective of the results of democratic elections!

4) To my knowledge, the South never actually contested that the outcome 1860 Presidential Election as the result of "MASSIVE & WIDESPREAD FRAUD & DECEPTION" - it had already decided that Lincoln's political and social agenda was too radical to be compatible with their way of life and that opting out of the Union was constitutionally justified!
- "Crunchtime's" analogy is not an accurate one!

5) Robert E Lee may have been the South's most successful general but he served throughout the Civil War under its Confederate President, Jefferson Davis - Lee reluctantly refused an offer to lead the Northern Armies, feeling that his true loyalty was to defend his home state of Virginia!

Predictable.

Tribe #1: All sunshine and happiness. We're perfect. Everything should be our way and America will be amazing! Obviously this is the Tribe Bill sees himself in thus it is the tribe that he thinks is the right one.

Tribe #2: Everything sucks. We need to overhaul EVERYTHING because of white people.

Jesus, what a stupid view. This is partisan hack Bill O'Reilly at his best. I agree that it's a grade school superficial bullshit take. He could have made it a much shorter article by simply saying "I think libs suck". His article is no more enlightened than what is routinely posted by the low IQ conservatives here.

Border security hasn’t collapsed? Seriously? Crime is up a bit from what? Are you saying that conditions in the inner cities have been acceptable all these years but now they have to live through this little spike in crime until life returns to “normal?” You sound like Joe Biden. The lies sure do need to stop. I agree with that.

And it’s all very much below you. That’s clear. Im surprised someone of your obvious intelligence would stoop to respond to such a low level OP.

I believe that the GOP will move on from DJT. That said, Canadians like you continue to exaggerate and dramatize the Jan 6 riots. It was shameful but not an organized insurrection. I don’t care what Liz Cheney says. Or the rest of the political hacks on that committee.

I see you decided not to contest my point.
What’s the point? Your comments in a can are typical. I could watch MSNBC and hear the same thing. No point in arguing with you if you swe no truth in OReillys OP. I disagree with you. There may be more than two tribes but there are only two sides.

In other words, you don't want to hear any stinking evidence... since you already know the truth?

Why are you in a debate forum, then?

In other words the whole thing is political. Why a congressional committee anyway? Why dissect it? Just bring charges against those that participated.

I am saying Bill ORielly's claim is factually false.

In other words the whole thing is political.
Well, only if you call it "political" to investigate the only insurrection attempt in US history and a POTUS who encouraged it and then just stood by and watched.
Why a congressional committee anyway? Why dissect it? Just bring charges against those that participated.
It is how it's always done. The Kennedy Assassination. 911. Whenever a huge traumatic event happens in the US, Congress wants to take a look at it.

In this case the Republican Senate voted down an independent commission, such as we've had in the past. They did that because they knew that Republicans did the thing. So we had to do a bipartisan Congressional committee, except the Republicans wanted their own insurrectionist members on the committee and that wouldn't work... which is why there are only two Republicans on the committee.

So how do we bring charges against those who participated, without investigating who participated? The DoJ is on the job, but Congress is getting more info to provide to them.

Here's the Big Question for you: If BLM had been the invaders of the Capitol, would you think it reasonable to form a committee to investigate that?

Yes, oh yes! But then I've been saying all this for about 20 years. Lots of people have seen this coming and spoken out about it but the media and the schools and many politicians have deliberately ignored it and the damage it is doing to traditional America. The left says traditional is bad, but the new America will lead us the way of all other fallen empires throughout history. When you stop being who you are, what made you who you are, you fail.

The left is what got us out of "traditions" like mixing of church and state, burning witches and heretics at the stake, slavery, misogyny, etc...

You want to preserve those traditions?

I read it and can't argue with any of it.
The left has the momentum and the control but they don't have the important buy in and support. I don't think this nation is okay. Frankly, when one looks at polling, neither do most Americans, including most from both sides. The polling on the economy, direction of country and whether people think they'll be better or worse off going forth, is not positive - but instead rather grim. The country is not in a stable and okay place. It's more divided than at any time in my life.
The left sees how their desired and highly coordinated (all the way to the top of all what were once the nation's dependable and respected organizations) and repeated narratives (none of which are attached to reality) aren't being bought by enough, which is why they are getting increasingly angry, snarky, and childish as time passes.
This thread is a perfect example. The OP is a completely reasonable topic, which in days past, people interested in politics would have had a lively and on topic discussion about. But just read the comments on this thread!

Did he switch to the Confederate side halfway through the piece?
Thats rich. The confederates rejected self reliance too. Thought they should get free labor because they are white.

Of course you can't argue. It's written entirely from your slant. It's from the screeching head-splitting conservative view that America is dying and only conservatives can save it. With their no-new-ideas and we-refuse-to-evolve standpoint. I don't agree with everything the Dems want to do, but the hair-on-fire race by conservatives to turn the clock back to the 1950's ain't the solution. Sadly the world will move on without you. I believe in "Evolve or Die". Cons do not. Change and progress. The 2 things that scare the shit out of cons.
