Fundamentally, Trump and whatever’s left of the Republican Party do not care about regular people. Everything in the bill is rigged to benefit the rich and ultra wealthy, to the detriment of regular people and future generations of regular people. The bill blows a hole in our deficit for no reason other than to give tax breaks to the rich.

One great example of how the bill is rigged against regular people is no tax on tips, one of the big promises Trump made. Those tax cuts are phased out. The tax cuts for the rich are not phased out. There are many more examples.

Fundamentally, I’m a capitalist, but the lack of a sense of responsibility to the rest of the country that Republicans routinely demonstrate is something I find appalling, grotesque.

And I received zero support suggesting a tax code change that would reduce the tax on the bottom 70% while raising it on the top 30%, eliminating or reducing the Federal deficit, while making social security permanently solvent.
In a democracy, don't blame the government, blame the people, who are conquered by division.

Rick Scott and other Republicans wants an additional $313,000,000,000 cut from Medicaid for a total of $1,240,000,000,000 (that's 1.24 TRILLION) in cuts to Medicaid.

The bill is a bolder version of what regressives always do when they have total power. This time, though, I think that they are ****ing up in a way that will make the consequences come more quickly. They probably should have avoided revealing their hatred of the poor so directly.

You see, people will take a lot of shit from the rich. They'll surrender their unions, and they'll work their asses off for wages that don't even approach comfortable. They'll even go hungry and deny themselves things so that their kids can have a bit more. When you start ****ing with their kids, though, that's when society starts to pull apart. This regressive bill does that sort of thing. The rich in this country need to be careful not to overplay their hand, and it looks to me like the hand is being overplayed in a significant way these days.

The world of MAGA doesn't seem to read real news, and so any suffering they experience will be blamed on liberals, because their TVs will tell them so.

This is why, for example, the blame for Trump's failed strikes on Iran were quickly, magically placed at Biden's feet.

It has been this way for at least twenty years, and I don't see it stopping for any reason.

It's the same shit they do every time. Starting with Reagan, the GOP's substantive policy is to rape America's future for the benefit of its wealthiest donors. Apart from that, it feeds its base culture wars against vulnerable minorities, because when haven't social conservatives been unutterable pieces of shit?

So much fake outrage! 80% of the Bill is just extending his old tax cuts which clearly has bipartisan support. People make it sound like it's the end of the world.

It's not the end of the world. That is a strawman argument.

Those tax cuts were supposed to end, now that they've been extended our debt is going to explode, and regular people will bear this burden, not the wealthy.

As the “big, beautiful bill” teeters towards passage in the Senate, every major health system in Louisiana sent a letter Saturday to the state’s entire congressional delegation, including Speaker Mike Johnson (R), warning that planned cuts to Medicaid would be “historic in their devastation.”

The letter said that the Senate’s version of the bill would cut more than $4 billion in Medicaid funding, with a loss of more than 16,000 jobs. Even the House’s version of cuts, the letter stated, would be a more palatable solution.

However, the “economic consequences pale in comparison to the harm that will be caused to residents across the state, regardless of insurance status, who will no longer be able to get the care that they need,” the letter reads.

“Steep cuts will force consolidation of services, staffing reductions and closures, reducing healthcare access to everyone in our communities. Our rural communities will especially feel the impact as many of these hospitals are already in difficult financial situations and are likely to experience a significant reduction of services.”

fyi: Louisiana voted 60% in favor of Trump in 2024.

Many Trump supporters who voted for Trump because they hate brown-skinned people are now going to be more likely to get sick and die as a direct result of their support of Trump.

"Only 20% of the bill is monstrous in a way that will literally kill people, you snowflakes!!"

lmao.

God you people are just... bad at this. At least try and make the Trump administration sound good. Who the **** taught you how to write propaganda? They should be fired.

I would predict a 100-seat Democratic majority in the House in 2026, but I'm not 100% confident the elections will be fair.

That is certainly a prediction to make.

The only person who is using "end of the world" language is you, but somehow before clicking Post Reply you had convinced yourself that liberals had used that language instead.

Zero critical thinking.

Funny, I saw the other day that the largest percentage of gain from tax cuts falls on the middle class; notice I said PERCENTAGE.

The propaganda has shifted from trying to make Trumpism appealing to not even bothering. "So what? Either get rich or die!"

And Trumpists love it.

They are scraping the bottom of the social barrel - getting the dregs.

Pure heartless greed. Magas should be ashamed.

It will be the end of the world for millions who depend on the government for their very life.

Agree. The problem with absolute power is those who wield it lose track of what will be tolerated and what will ultimately backfire on them. They lose touch with reality and perception. They keep pressing for more, more, more and their greed urges them on. They are amazed they get away with each level of cruelty and attacks on the non-rich. Emboldened, they keep trying for more, more, more. Their leader is completely without restraint. Eventually they push too far, take too much. People get fed up with it. People talk. It will swing the other way. It's only a matter of when.

At this point, where we have had Trump's statements in our faces for over a decade, we can easily assume he's full of shit, lying as usual.

He's NEVER told the truth. Never done anything to aid anyone but himself and his golfing buddies. He cheats at golf, marriage and business.....

Defend away....

There's a bunch of different ways to slice and dice things. But it's not true when you take into account how Republicans are defining the "middle" class, and how the tax cuts for regular people are arranged to sunset (stuff like no tax on tips). The high income earners get the lion's share of the tax cuts, in both real and percentage terms. The tax cuts are totally skewed towards the portion of the population making the most amount of money.

You are being lied to by people who don't care about you (I'm assuming you're middle class).

If you're rich they love you very much and what you to have everything.
