A Texas man is behind bars after allegedly threatening to shoot up the Abilene Pride Parade to seek revenge for the assassination of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk.
Joshua Cole, 42, was arrested by the FBI one day after allegedly posting violent threats on Facebook, including calls to "lock and load" and "go hunting fairies," according to an affidavit filed in North Texas federal court.
The online messages, reportedly sent to a Facebook friend, appeared to advocate for armed retaliation just one week after Kirk was fatally shot. "Fk their parade, I say we lock and load and pay them back for taking out Charlie Kirk," Cole wrote, according to court documents.
Responding to a post criticizing the parade's "no gun" policy, Cole added: "They don't want anyone showing up and taking them out like they wanna do with everyone else," Cole replied. "Maybe we should protest lol."
"[T]here's only like 30 of [them] we can send a clear message to the rest of them," Cole added, according to screenshots of the messages included in the affidavit. "[C]ome on bro lets go hunting fairies."
I imagine that for some reason, this doesn't count as "dangerous rhetoric".
