Dolezal’s statement reads, “While challenging the construct of race is at the core of evolving human consciousness, we can NOT afford to lose sight of the five Game Changers (Criminal Justice & Public Safety, Health & Healthcare, Education, Economic Sustainability, and Voting Rights & Political Representation) that affect millions, often with a life or death outcome. The movement is larger than a moment in time or a single person’s story, and I hope that everyone offers their robust support of the Journey for Justice campaign that the NAACP launches today!
“It is with complete allegiance to the cause of racial and social justice and the NAACP that I step aside from the Presidency and pass the baton to my Vice President, Naima Quarles-Burnley. It is my hope that by securing a beautiful office for the organization in the heart of downtown, bringing the local branch into financial compliance, catalyzing committees to do strategic work in the five Game Changer issues, launching community forums, putting the membership on a fast climb, and helping many individuals find the legal, financial and practical support needed to fight race-based discrimination, I have positioned the Spokane NAACP to buttress this transition.” Rachel Dolezal Resigns As NAACP Leader Amid Controversy « CBS Seattle
Brazenly self-aggrandizing even now.

And no apology for lying? Classy.
The thing is she was fully qualified for the job without lying about her family history. The NAACP DOES hire non-blacks into positions of leadership.
Comparing her situation to that of transgender people doesn't make sense, though. The consensus in the medical community seems to be that gender dysphoria is genetic or at least affected by the in-utero environment. Culture is not biological. The divisions we draw between societies of different ethnicities are social constructs.
So you can't say you were born into the wrong race because NOBODY is born being wired to associate with one race over the other. It is all societal conditioning. That is different than being transgender. Yes, our particular gender roles are defined by societal conditioning but that inner affiliation with being masculine or feminine is affected by how our brains are wired, which is affected by various biological in outs such as hormones, both pre and post-birth.
That said, I don't have a personal problem with someone wanting to identify with an ethnicity other than the one they were born into. But I don't think you have to concoct a web of lies in order to do that.
Both transgender and whatever trans she is are clearly mental and/or genetic disorders.
Gender dysphoria is definitely a disorder, hence it being a medical diagnosis. Somebody who is transgender is someone who has chosen to treat the dysphoria by bringing their outer self more in line with their mental self.
Transracial? I don't see how something not rooted in biology (culture) can have a biological cause. I am not a psychiatrist though.
Yes, as a host for some show on MSNBC.Nuttier than a fruitcake.
I predict that we'll hear more from this person.

"challenging the construct of race is at the core of evolving human consciousness"
Its established that your gender is a choice, so why not your race! Can't wait for someone to argue they are a platypus. I'm ok with that so long as they were a fedora.
