"Prices in particular for groceries are still too high. The American people know it. I know it. Which is why my agenda includes what we need to do to bring down the price of groceries. For example, dealing with an issue like price gouging."

That was Harris' explanation in her interview, regarding grocery price gouging.

She says grocery store prices are too high, and her agenda includes what is needed to be done to bring down the price of groceries, including dealing with price gouging.

So, Harris supporters - what is your understanding of what Harris is proposing to do about grocery store prices?

(the argument on this usually is Trumper declaring that Harris is proposing price controls, and Harrisers denying that and saying that all she's talking about is normal price gouging stuff).

So, what has Harris said she will do, if elected, that will bring down grocery prices. Note, she said "Bring down" - that means reduce, lower, make cheaper, make less expensive. It does not mean "slow the rate of increase" in prices.

You heard her in her interview. She said her agenda includes what we need to do to bring down the price of groceries. Dana Bash, a CNN interviewer and long time commentator, did not think to ask Harris "what is it that needs to be done to bring down the price of groceries?" Do you think it's a fair question to even ask? Is it a question voters should really expect an answer to?

Eliminate sharks and batteries.
And windmills, because they cause cancer.
Ashamed Hannibal Lector is not alive, or else he can be named Price Gouging Czar.
Then nuke a hurricane.
That should bring food prices down.

She was very clear last week that she would work with Congress to develop legislation that would prevent price gouging and pointed specifically to legislation to prevent conglomerates like those in the meat industry which limits competition....in other words anti monopoly type legislation

Has Trump been asked or answered questions on how he's going to reduce grocery prices?
Repeatedly. Everything hinges on the price of fuel, when fuel goes up everything does. He plans to open up drilling, fracking (which Harris now agrees with) to make fuel plentiful and less expensive. Ultimately that will result in lower grocery prices. He was asked just yesterday at a live town hall. Maybe Harris should try one of those.

I imagine her policies will piggyback on the current FTC investigation into grocery prices. And if any issues are found, I expect her administration will prosecute those violating laws and amend laws that are being exploited.

We're drilling more oil than any country in the history of the world under Biden-Harris. So if that's the solution, sounds like Harris has the edge.

That would be an improvement over attempting to mandate prices.

I guess you have to 'imagine' what she'll do, since she's not spelling it out very clearly.

Which, if true, is a huge turnaround from her earlier call for price controls. Of course, when your own party thinks your proposal is nuts, you kind of have to walk it back.

Has Trump been asked or answered questions on how he's going to reduce grocery prices?
This thread is about Harris' specific campaign promise. Trump did not claim grocery stores are price gouging, Harris did. And Harris specifically stated that her agenda includes what we need to do do to reduce grocery store prices. Trump has addressed inflation, though, but that would be a topic for another thread, and probably is a topic of 20 other threads already. This thread is about Harris' proposal.

Fuel is plentiful now. Are you having a hard time finding an open gas station?

Ah, so you want capitalism to be at its finest but still want to bitch that food prices are too high.

Trump has promised to bring prices down.

You do realize the US is producing more oil and gas now than at any time in history including the Trump years. Gas prices will be whatever world markets will pay and drilling will be whatever the oil execs want it to be to maximize shareholders value.

Trump has pledged to bring down prices of everything, not just groceries.

Americans crave pre-Covid prices. Former President Donald Trump is promising to make them a reality.

“Prices will come down,” Trump told voters during a speech last week laying out his vision for a return to the White House. “You just watch: They’ll come down, and they’ll come down fast, not only with insurance, with everything.”

How is he going to achieve that? Do you think it's a fair question to even ask? Is it a question voters should really expect an answer to?

So.... what have you come to understand Harris intends to do about the grocery prices?

She was clear about it already. To help people through this rough time she will deal with those price gouging, raise child credits and introduce a bill to help families afford housing. What about this did you not understand?

Can you quote her calling for "price controls"? Thanks!!!

Trumps rebuttal was Kamala and Hilary give blowjobs to work their way up, and QAnon was correct, and he will also arrest everyone on day one that he hates!

Is this something you're looking for in a president? If it is then don't vote for Harris/Walz, because you won't get it.
