So, I am interested in an honest answer to this question ...

Right now, I see a lot of people claiming that people are not getting vaccinated because anti-vaxxers are being vilified.

My question: Why are people using social esteem as one of the pieces of consideration for what is essentially a health and safety issue?

I'd argue they made it political, so they are making a political statement that overrides their health/safety.
It's them against the evil Democrat Biden who wants to take their freedoms.

The more they resist, they more Biden has to do to try and force people to vaccinate, and the better Republicans will be in 2022/2024 (since they don't care about the deaths, they only care about making Biden look bad).
I'd rather be dead than a democrat...some people really have that conviction...right up until they are told they are going on a ventilator, then they admit they wish they had gotten vaccinated, as their loved one later sets up a gofundme for their funeral expenses.

Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy easy question.

Insecurities.

People who are confident in themselves, in who they are, in the tribe they identify with do not allow themselves destructive behaviors for ego. They don't have such needs.

Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy easy quetion.

What else you got?

Is that really all there is to it? This behavior genuinely confuses me.

I saw a thread here earlier concerning some study about the reasons people aren't getting vaccinated and I think one of the reasons had to do with what you are talking about. You might want to do a search and find that thread. Check out the link and read the report.

Oh...sorry...I guess pointing you in a direction where you might find the answer to your question isn't good enough for you.

Never mind, then.
