I'm all for that.
But in this instance, as sad as her passing may be, it is my opinion she caused her own demise. I think she simply got carried away in the moment, believing her and the other rioters were impervious to danger or being fired upon.
Not sure if you're aware, but the Congressional staffers had already retreated through multiple innervrooms & doors, as the rioters pursued them. They were at their final 'safe room', and the cop was holding the rioters at gunpoint, warning them to not advance further.
I have no idea why they didn't heed his commands. However, after she was shot, the rioters did immediately stop their advance, word spread quickly, and the entire complex soon de-escalated. It had become real. So, her death did quite possibly save other injuries and possible deaths.
She was a military vet, with multiple deployments. Such a sad unnecessary loss. And the cop has to live with that, too. I do believe we will not be seeing any shenanigans to this extent, for quite awhile. The government will be better prepared, and other prospective rioters will be wary of charges or even the possibility of losing their lives.
