  • The amount was sent as part of a crowdfunding effort to help the far-right group pay for medical expenses after a clash with BLM protesters

  • Donors said they contributed because they felt that the US was under attack from communism
The far-right group Proud Boys allegedly received more than US$80,000 in donations from Chinese-Americans and the broader Chinese diaspora a month before the Capitol attack, according to a report by USA Today.

The money was sent as part of a crowdfunding effort to help the Proud Boys pay for medical expenses after four people were stabbed in Washington, DC in December 2020 during a confrontation with Black Lives Matter protesters (officials did not comment on which group the injured individuals belonged to at the time).

The fundraiser was set up on the Christian fundraising site GiveSendGo on December 17, five days after the incident.

Stabbed. That's almost more barbaric than gun fire. And what is this Chinese-American link to the Capitol attack? Where did that come from?

Actually if you think $80K is a meaningful enough amount to make any sort of comment one way or the other regarding Chinese-Americans, I would encourage you to think about that a bit.

Trump was right about one thing. Without him to kick around there is all sorts of not ready for prime time shit going around that is hardly newsworthy.

I think one narrow ethnic group supporting the seeds of an insurrection is very interesting. What was their interest & intent? I wasn't aware of this group having any affinity for Trump.

Have you verified the truth behind the story?

It does sound fishy. This paper is in Hong Kong, so there may have been an effort to defame Chinese-Americans for some reason.

The key part isn't the amount. It's that Chinese Americans are donating to Proud Boys at all. Assuming story is true.

Falun Gong would be supportive of Donald Trump, reading the Epoch Times and that becomes rather clear

I don't believe Proud Boys track donations by race.

I don't think the Proud Boys do much of anything by "Race"

Additionally, $80K is nothing, a drop in the bucket for such organizations.

Gatorade alone gave $500K to BLM. Toco Bell gave BLM even more over several years. BLM took in over $90M in 2020 alone.

Getting just $80K means the Proud Boys are starving to death.

As far as huge, well funded, gangs of violent, law breaking, Terrorist Racists, go... no group comes even close to BLM!

And leading democrats contributed money to rioters and looters that went right back out and caused more damage.

Not exactly related to your post, but what does "far-right" mean exactly?

If I have to explain that to you, you are on the wrong group.

Seems like there is something in there that the left could learn from, along with many Cuban Americans voting for Trump. But, the left is blind to everything but their own ideology.

Political loyalists seem to be blind to a lot. Rationalization, justification and deception are their tools and all means become their ends.

Leftists who assert that everything that happened in the world before they started to pronounce "THE TRUTH" are a corrosive, deceptive and dishonest gang of terrorists against honesty and fact.
