Funny how anytime anywhere a group of people get more rights it's a 'librul con-speercy'.
I predict "Boobies" will be the overwhelming write in favorite for the new demographic.I think I see 'legal pot' in D.C.'s future!
it is funny, really.... almost as funny as believing liberals are on the side of people getting more rights.
Every time people get more rights it's because liberals fought for it. Fought against conservatives, generally.

once upon a time maybe.. .but that breed of liberal is long gone.... they've been replaced with authoritarian progressives and other brands of leftists who seek to take away rights, rather than fight for more.
After Obama, the yutes can't be trusted.
No thanks.
Most 16yo's can't spell Republic let alone appreciate one, unless it has something to do with Xbox.
In any case, it is fairly pointless.... damn few 18-22yo's actually vote, I can only imagine how low 16-17yo voter turnout will be...
No, that's just the party line. Anyone who is authoritarian, any flavour of authoritarian, isn't a liberal, I don't care what you or him or anyone else says.
The conservative meme is to gather up every social and political evil into a heap and call the pile 'liberalism'. It's not true but it makes conservatives feel warm and fuzzy.
Yeah, but, who do you trust?
It was around 90% in the 16-24 age group for the referendum. Wasn't even an election.
16 and 17 year olds granted the vote in all Scottish elections - Mirror Online
"109,553 16-17 year olds put themselves on the electoral register for the referendum and the 16-24 age group had a turnout of around 90%."
I agree.. authoritarians aren't liberal... which is why I often complain about folks mislabeling themselves as liberals.
btw, I'm a libertarian... you can keep whining about those other authoritarians ( conservatives) all you want, doesn't bug me a bit.
people over 30.
anyone younger is functionally retarded.
I've been a liberal all my life, voted for the Liberal Party every time I voted, and I sure don't recognize myself in what's called 'liberal' around here sometimes.
And if you heard a whining noise, it sure as hell wasn't coming from me.
No thanks.

Inaccurate. Everyone functioned better in their twenties.
Ah, but you meant mentally retarded. At what age does curmudgeon kick in where you are?
And if they put a polling place in every school...
Most 36 year olds aren't informed voters either.
I functioned better in my 30's 40's and 50's.... just sayin'....( i'm paying for it now, in my 60's, though)
there's no set age for curmudgeon to kick in....it simply happens when one realizes how retarded young people are (even themselves, when they were young)
quite literally,I wouldn't let a 16 year old vote in any election... unless the "candidates" included Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift.
I did a fairly athletic job (Ironworker, connector) and peaked in my 30's. By mid 40's I was the old guy and I changed jobs in my 50's.
If I was more interested (and that might happen, it's kinda interesting) I'd look at how it's worked out in Austria and South America. It's new in Scotland- I don't think there's been an election yet with 16-year-old voters but they turned out for the independence referendum and that vote seemed to go the way the pundits predicted meaning that the teenagers didn't change the outcome much.
And I think Justin Beiber's yours now. He's lived in the US long enough that some statute of limitations must have kicked in by now.
it sounds like you were whining about conservatives to me... if not, no big deal... it wouldn't bug me if you did.
we don't really have a liberal party here.... the closest would be the Libertarian party.... and our self professed "liberals" hate that party with a passion.<shrug>
personally, i'd love to see liberals make a comeback in the US... but I doubt that will happen while i'm alive.
I probably wouldn't be opposed to it if it weren't for the fact that our schools do an absolutely horrendous job at teaching civics/government.... and most kids don't even get that class until their senior year.
our kids literally have no idea about our government ,our system, or it's history... it's sad.
if we have to take Justin, we get Rush as " Sorry about Bieber" gift.
