Seven people have been arrested in the Irish Republic over an alleged plot to kill a Swedish cartoonist for depicting the Prophet Muhammad, police say.

Looks like some people just have no sense of humor.

In related news, another reward has just been offered for the murder of all those who would make Muhammad into a cartoon. Here is a recent photo of the man who offered the reward:

Yeah, this is a legitimate religion. LOL

Legit or not (my personal opinion is not) it certainly seems pissed off at the world.

Some would say that is the result of worshipping a false prophet.

I think it has to do with the fact that it is such a legalistic religion that it cannot flex its rules past the middle ages, which causes unnecessary angst among its followers.

However, as a Christian, I do hold the opinion that it is not a legitimate religion for religious reasons as well.

Which prophet are you talking about? Jesus? Moses? Muhammad?

You know they worship all three, right?

Technically, they are only supposed to worship God (Allah). To them Jesus, Moses, and Mohammed are just people who could speak for the divine.

True. But the extent that they defend the prophets make it seem a bit like worship.

The action of extremists do not denote that a religion is "legitimate". The backwardness shown by a sect of a religion currently does not equal a religion not being "legitimate". If we used these standards to determine what religions should be practiced or followed Christianity would've never made it to the present day, and if it had reached the present day wouldn't be followed because people murder people in the name of their religious beliefs still today (Tiller anyone).

Kudos to the police for finding these people and bringing them into custody prior to the act. Idiots and extremists like these give a bad name to the millions that are not so crazy.

I agree with that. Its like the whole virgin mary thing and the catholic church.

I suuppose it's only fair. Mossad uses our passports.
Mystery of 'Irish' trio accused of being part of Israeli hit squad - World News, Frontpage - Herald.ie

Police in the United Arab Emirates have named the two Irish men and one woman as being among an 11-strong murder gang that stalked and killed Mahmoud al-Mabhouh on January 19.

The senior Hamas commander was found suffocated in a luxury hotel room, sparking outrage as Palestine accused Israel's Mossad secret service of carrying out the attack. It has pledged to strike back.

You don't think there's a hierarchy involved there? They don't seem to get so bent if you draw a picture of Jesus.

The case came about a year and a half after a series of depictions of Muhammad in Denmark's Jyllands-Posten paper caused an uproar in early 2006.

Muslims regard any image of the Prophet Muhammad as blasphemy.

Blasphemous for Muslims yes but Non Muslims are not answerable to the same rules and constraints that Muslims follow :doh

You know, I still have not even seen those cartoons that is supposed to be so offensive but well done to the Irish authorities.

If your religion caused you to live in the 7th century, get down on your knees 5 times a day, eat goat, cover your wife head to toe, and she smelled like a goat, wouldn't you be pissed at the world?

Indeed I would! :rofl

Of course there is a hierarchy. There is always a hierarchy. Why would a hierarchy be a problem?

I doubt the leads came from Irish sources. Most likely they came from the UK/US through interpol. Fair is fair, my guess is the Garda got cut in for the coup de grass. AFIK we are still orientated mostly twords dissadent republican terrorists.
