I doubt that many are so "pro-life" that they wish to ban "the pill" - assuming that "the pill" means the common contraceptive (used to stop ovulation) rather than "the abotion pill" (a drug which can induce abortion, especially mifepristone).

I doubt many do either. Yes, "The Pill" as in the general contraceptive.

Your kidding! You do not know the hypocrisy of the catholics on the issue of the pill?
Is Pope Francis' contraception hint just a puff of smoke? - BBC News
The weakness of the Catholic Church's position on artificial contraception is that most Catholic women in most parts of the world have openly and steadily disobeyed papal teaching. Over 95% of sexually active Catholic women in the United States ignore the ban, according to independent opinion polls.

All Eggs Matter.

Don't let those potential embryos never be born! Get to ****ing now!

Absolutely not. Pro-life of whatever degree encourages birth control to the maximum degree possible.

I'm in the right to life camp, but I don't oppose either the pill or any other kind of birth control. What I oppose is using abortion as birth control.

I am not sure which type of birth control you're referring to. My objection would be the type of birth control which destroys the fertilized egg. Most forms of birth control I am fine with.

But I am mostly curious about the genesis of the question. You will be hard-pressed to find any pro-lifer objecting to the concept of birth control in general. Perhaps on the crazy religious right side of the equation. Limiting abortion options are pro-lifers' main objective. Things like rape, incest, life and health of the mother, and the health of the fetus/unborn baby should be something open for abortion.

Most of the pro-lifers are fine with birth control as long as it isn't murdering a fetus. In fact, Planned Parenthood wouldn't have any problems at all with providing all other birth control measures if they dropped the abortion thing. But, they refuse to.

Some pro-choicers are convinced that almost all pro-lifers (especially men) want all birth control banned. This, as most of us know, is ridiculous.

Gotcha. Now I understand your objective.

Every Republican President since Reagan, has taken fairly moderate pro-life stances on the issue. They understand that the majority of Americans fall on the pro-choice side of the equation. As in, the woman has the right to an abortion for the first trimester and then restrictions kick in. Reagan-Bush-Dole-Bush-McCain-Romney-Trump have advocated for restricting the practice to rape cases and medical complications.

Within the Pro-Life circles, there isn't a consensus on the number of restrictions on the practice or the proper punishment for getting an "unproved" abortion. In fact, I would argue it's a very disorganized movement, seeing as how the supreme court is unlikely to overturn at least two layers of precedent.

I do consider myself pro-life, but I will argue the movement has been hijacked by religious fanatics and people with unrealistic goals. Take for example in Ohio. John Kasich vetoed the heartbeat bill multiple times, because he realized it wasn't going to be enforced and would cost the state money. But when the new governor came in, he signed the heartbeat bill and proposed banning abortion except if the life of mother in danger. That would mean that a 14 year could get raped and the government would force her to give birth to the child. If pro-life Americans want to argue that a fetus constitutes as person via the 5th and 14th amendment (protects personhood from being denied, life, liberty, etc), passing laws forcing a raped teenager to get an abortion is counterproductive.

I would like to know why the birth control pill is not yet over the counter in the United States; about 80 countries already make it available to women without prescription...why is the US dragging its feet?

Absolutely not.

The "regular pill" as well as the "morning after" pill should be available to whoever wants it. NO questions asked; NO lectures either.

I may be GOP, but split with them over abortion.

The woman has the final choice in the status of her pregnancy.

No clue, but I’m going to guess there is a financial motive.
