"The response to Ernst built quickly, first in whispers following her initially cool remarks after meeting with Hegseth, then into a pile-on from powerful figures in the “Make America Great Again” movement....Those piling on included Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., and conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who warned that Ernst’s political career was “in serious jeopardy" and that primary challengers stood at the ready. One social media post from the CEO of The Federalist featured side-by-side photos comparing Ernst to ousted Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., whom Trump recently said deserves to be jailed, along with other members of the House committee that investigated the Capitol riot. ...“If the king wants a different senator from Iowa, we’ll have one. If he doesn’t, we won’t,” said Iowa talk show host Steve Deace, suggesting on his show Monday that he would be willing to jump in against Ernst if Trump wanted a challenger. “I think someone’s got to be made an example out of, whether it’s Joni or someone else.”

...Trump allies had been concerned that a successful effort to derail Hegseth’s candidacy would empower opposition to other nominees, undermining his projections of complete dominance of the party.

...Only about 2 in 10 Americans approve of Hegseth’s nomination, according to Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs polling. About one-third of Republicans approve of him as a pick, and 16% disapprove. Another 1 in 10 Republicans, roughly, are neutral and say they neither approve nor disapprove.

...Ernst has gradually appeared to soften on Hegseth."

We should be thankful he didn't nominate a horse, I think.

I don't know, horses wouldn't do anything...

I would think that the Senators would try to deep-six Hegseth’s nomination before they have to go on the record.

Ernst doesn't have the spine to stand up to Trump.

I'd be OK with a horse, he nominated more than one grizzly bear, the most dangerous mammal on the planet.

This is all the fault of voters. The voters are influenced by what trump wants, and there is no rationale for it. Trumpers, not Trump, are the issue.

Trump makes his own choices in as much as outbursts, aversions, sex creeping and criminal lusts are choices.

Jan 6, was about finding ways to support the democrats hypothesis, it wasn't about truth. That's why they never played Trump's, "go peacefully and patriotically and protest" statement. Also why they never investigated the roll of the House and Senate leaders in refusing help at the capital. Today we learned the FBI had plants in the Jan 6 crowd but still didn't take aid for the capital police.

Yes, putting pressure on congressmen and senators is something that has never been seen before in this country. Ever.

You misspelled moose.
Hey, I googled the most dangerous mammal on earth- it wasn't a moose. It was grizzly and polar bears, and since the vast majority of us Americans will never even see a polar bear unless we visit a zoo, I went with grizzly! I'm an animal planet junkie, and I know moose are very dangerous, but they aren't rated the worst. Trying to make an analogy here... :giggle:

Google has clearly never met the moose. Unlike moose, Grizzlys will not attack if you if you are 2 states away.

Have you investigated Trump egging on the violent crowd on with his Twitter post about Pence betraying them?

Truth. Meese are demon spawn. They also run in violent gangs and will trample you for kicks.

Not with a man with $400 billion willing to buy what he needs. Buying Trump had a swift ROI.

Hey, I'm a huge fan of Dr. Oakley, Yukon Vet and other Alaskan vet shows. I know grizzly's are confined to the Alaska, Canada, and thePNW states. As far as I know we don't have moose in Georgia, or grizzly's, but we sure as shit have big black and brown bears! Bottom line, trump dump will only bring on the most vile of predators, we can count on that for sure!!!!

I saw a show on Animal Planet the other day about a rescue site for moose calves abandoned by their mothers. They were being bottle fed! These people are hard core animal lovers to take in these animals with the sole purpose of returning them to the wild when they're old enough to take care of themselves. I did an intensive search on large mammals who are the greatest threat to humans, and moose didn't come up as the worst. I've heard and seen stories of how mean they can be too. If I'm wrong, I stand corrected!

I have anecdotes from wilderness walkabouts. I would rate by danger:
1. Unprepared hikers.
2. Meese
3. Mountain Lions ("It is the position of fish and game that there are officially no mountain lions in NH")
4. Bears.
5. Ice bridges in June.

I would be interested to see if you could provide evidence that shows senators have been threatened with a primary challenge if they vote against a cabinet nominee.

I know you can't find one where the president was referred to, by a supporter, as "a king.'

He can't. The Mafia is moving into the WH.

It seems likely despite their distaste of tainted neophytes like Gabbard, Hegseth and Patel, that the GOP fears MAGA enough to confirm them.

But they're unlikely to last. Their aim is to dismantle the organizations they're supposed to lead and there'll be a lot of pushback from the rank and file - not to mention the brass.

Plus we all saw what a revolving door dumpster fire the last Trump admin was. It's just as likely they'll fall out with the president.
