Don't take this the wrong way OP but I don't care what trump said. He says crap for attention and power, to 'dominate the news', to 'flood the zone with crap'. Watch what he does.

I sent my Trumper Mom a picture of her great grandson from this morning. She replied, “Cute, why isn’t he wearing red, white and blue?”. I ignored her but I really wanted to say, “Because Trump ruined patriotism for 70% of the country.”

My mind simply cannot accept that any leader anywhere would post such a message on such a day. In some ways I hope that this is a fraud, that it didn’t come from The Donald. But just when one thinks he couldn’t be more inappropriate or offensive, he tops himself.

I am a pinko commie coward who was a conscientious objector in the 1960s. But I wrote to friends serving in Vietnam (one wrote back: “avoid this anyway you can”), and welcomed home, met with, and listened to sad and brutal stories of vets, at least one still a bit high on the drugs he took to deal with the horrors he saw. His story stood out, of his experience as truck driver who, when following a dear friend in another truck, simply downshifted and passed him by when that truck was hit and exploded. He then confessed to his anger that had him running over random Vietnamese scooter drivers.

Am watching a documentary on the Vietnam War, and thinking of the fools that sank us into that quagmire, I remember the last lines of Charlton Heston’s character in “Planet of the Apes,” after he realizes that the apes were right to fear and avoid us humans, who had destroyed the world: “God damn them. God damn them to hell!”
