Pope Francis passed away last night and was marked by his final Easter sermon which reinforced the compassion that Christ showed for the poor and marginalized during his time on earth in a time where ethnocentric views and a hardening of hearts is on the rise.

He will be missed by Christians everywhere whether they are Catholic or are in some other branch of Christianity.

He went in GOD's perfect timing. Had he died earlier, the focus would have been on the pope's passing and Resurrection Sunday might have taken second fiddle.

I appreciated how Francis regularly rebuked Donald.

The man who stands for righteousness needed to speak out against the miscreant.

Damn. That was so sudden.

R.I.P. Pope Francis.

RIP

Pope Francis tried his best to steer the Titantic away from the iceberg.

Very fitting that he tackled the Vatican Bank right away, and totally expected that conservative forces tried to block reforms in the Vatican.

I remember being surprised to learn that he had been the runner up when John Paul II was selected.

Do you know the prophecies by Malachias about Future popes in his time?

Very interesting, Rumpel, to bring forth that in such a manner:

Prophetia Sancti Malachiae Archiepiscopi, de Summis Pontificibus

Use of the Latin in a search engine might result in more depth than a simple log entry in Wkipedia.

In the meantime:

May Pope Francis (Jorge Mario Bergoglio) Rest In Peace.

He has been sick for a few weeks as I understand, but I was not expecting this.

Especially after they wheeled him out yesterday. I saw him in his wheelchair as a sign the worst was behind him

I'm not Catholic so I have no skin in the game, but Francis did move the Church away from traditional Catholic doctrine towrd the woke left. I think that was a mistake.
No, he was trying to make it better and more accepting. There is nothing "woke" about that. The term "woke" when used by the right is generally offensive. In this case, I would say the man was one of the better leaders of the church.

I hope the next Pope is not an American simply because the paranoia of him being a puppet for Trump.
