Poll: Obama approval rises, as does public support for gun control

I know you don't know this but guess what happened

Makers like Glock went to the police departments. They said give us all your PRE BAN 17 round magazines which we can sell at inflated prices and we will give you BRAND NEW LE Only mags (I have tons of them-after the stupid ban went away those were getting dumped by the makers at discounts). SO thousands upon thousands of pre ban mags owned by various agencies were sold to other civilians. Another thing. since magazines don't have dates or serial numbers on them and there are billions upon billions floating around the world, many of them came into the USA-some were certified as pre-ban, others just came in. there was no way to tell.

I never heard of Glock buying back mags. They didn't come to SW OK.

You sure can tell a preban Glock mag from a post ban by where the caliber marking is on the back. Midway between witness holes and the top are preban, at the top are post ban. I'll bet a shiny nickle that if the mag cap changes once again the mags will be appropriately marked. (got that from ar15.com google it)

I'm sure there was a smuggling ring for magazines right up there with cocaine and nannies...

I cannot help with what you don't know. the post ban normal cap mags (made 94-2004) said FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT ONLY-I have about 40 of those since they were cheap in 2005. the main change in glock mags was the drop free feature: the old mags had a U shaped cut in the rear. the drop free its more like a 3 sided rectangle

and Glock got Korea to adopt the 17 and the 19 as official weapons And then glock tried to make up some of the Favorable pricing they gave the ROK on the pistols by raising the price of the magazines. So the Koreans basically (KHAN AND KCI are the two "brands") made Glock mags. they often have some excess flashing from the molding process but I was buying them at about 5 bucks a pop and 3 minutes with a dremel tool and I have 50 mags for 250 that are just as durable and work just as well as the 17-22 dollar glock magazines.

and guess what, who is to say when those mags were made

same with the 50 STERLING (UK) STANAG 30 round mags I have for my AR 15s. Much heavier than the aluminum USGI issue, and much much more durable. a few million of those suckers are floating around the world

and who is to say when they were made?

Instead of flinging poo that has no bearing on glock mags like the AR mags, try going to ar15.com and read. I would suggest the Korean glock mags are identifiable because they lack the caliber markings US mags have and since they would be imports they certainly are covered.

That's what Karl Rove said about the polls that showed Obama in the lead during the election.

I just gave you a statistics 101 lesson trying to explain the faultiness of the poll you're using for the basis of your argument and you believe I'm politically biased?

Yeah but If I bring back a bunch and four years later some ATF clown is in my house there is no way he can prove when I fist obtained those mags.

That's the point.

Poll: Most back President Obama's gun measures

"The Gallup poll found majority support for universal background checks (91 percent), increased spending on mental health programs for young people (82 percent), increased training for first responders on how to respond to school attacks (79 percent), increased penalties for straw purchasers (75 percent), spending $4 billion to keep 15,000 police officers on the street (70 percent) and spending $30 million to help schools develop emergency response plans (69 percent).

Outright bans on ammunition and guns drew less backing. Two-thirds of Americans want a ban on armor-piercing bullets, while 60 percent want a reinstatement the assault weapons ban and 54 percent want a ban on ammunition clips holding more than 10 bullets. The bans on assault weapons and ammunition clips were the only two proposals that didn’t draw support from a majority of Republicans, earning 49 percent and 39 percent support from the GOP, respectively. Majorities of independents and Democrats supported every part of the plan."

]I back those ideas too.

I also accept armor piercing bullet bans and even banning assault rifles (actual assault rifles not the look alikes)

Actually, he took a big risk taking such a leadership position on gun control. Glad the majority of people are supporting him. It could have gone the other way!

I'd like to know how is taking the leadership position on gun control a big risk to a president on his last legal term?....seems more like a lame duck move to me. And it is rather obvious that he used the shooting to capitalize on his agenda to finally "stick it" to the right.

He risked his legacy when he didn't have to and took a strong leadership position on a highly controversial issue. I find that admirable.

He took a strong leadership position on a highly controversial issue in his second term. He would've never done that in his first....What legacy is that? Becoming a hero to the left, an Anti-Christ to the mid/right? He's in his second term and only cares about HIS agenda. He probably doesn't care if he ever gets elected to public office again, and why should he? As a former president, an advising or lobbyist gig would fetch a better looking penny than public office would anyway. He's a politician, therefore only cares about his sides legacy and their perception of him, not everyone else.

LOL! Everyone else? You mean the 8% that don't support the president's call for background checks for all gun sales?

Did you get that number from a TIME/CNN poll?

Gallup poll, as referenced in the link above. You are welcome to put up your own polls however!
