Except those truck drivers who are always blocking charging stations.Looks like folks from all political ideologies are enjoying electric cars in the US. In 15 to 20 years, gasoline cars will go the direction of the flip-top phone.
Politics be damned: Electric cars aren't really so polarizing
In these days when the political dividing lines can seem insurmountable, Democrats, Republicans, and Independents have something in common: Regardless of their political affiliation, a majority say that they view electric vehicles positively.
A new survey from Climate Nexus has found that 77 percent—a strong majority—views EVs positively. That’s true across demographic groups, and includes 84 percent of Democrats, 75 percent of Independents, and 70 percent of Republicans.
They will enjoy them even more when they realize all the benefits.
1. Can be charged from solar Photovoltaics. Imagine - no gasoline bills and no increase in electricity bills. Even if one chooses not to use PVs, he will realize a large reduction in fuel/power savings. Depending on the area of the country, this can be 1/3 or 1/2 as much.
2. The power and drive train is warranteed for 8 years or 100,000 miles. That includes the batteries. Most owners are now easily getting 150,000-200,000 miles on their original batteries. One Volt owner (PHEV) boasts over 600,000 miles on his original batteries.
3. Maintenance Costs of Electric Vehicles are much lower. Consider - no pistons, cylinders or oil in the motor. No transmission. No exhaust system. Regenerative braking not only efficiently captures braking energy, but results in very little braking.
4. Incredible driveability. 0-60 in a few seconds. If you prefer, it's easy to maneuver ahead of traffic with that kind of acceleration.
5. Quiet as a sleeping kitten.
One thing is for sure, you will continue to hear negative articles about EVs. The Koch Brothers and the Heartland Institute are investing Billions into misinformation campaigns. That's why it's so important that one listen to current owners of EVs. Over 95% are satisfied!!!

~ Tesla is a nice looking car. Not so sure about all electric vehicles in the near future. We shall see ...

Well that's the truth.Looks like folks from all political ideologies are enjoying electric cars in the US. In 15 to 20 years, gasoline cars will go the direction of the flip-top phone.

Three words: Range, range, range. From my home in San Diego I can't make it to Las Vegas on a single charge; my ten-year old beater can make it there and back on one tank.Looks like folks from all political ideologies are enjoying electric cars in the US. Here's a picture of my Volt. And the sources of most of it's power. I am one of the 95% of satisfied owners. I will never purchase a non-EV again.

~ Is VOLT all electric or hybrid ? I think I see a few of those around here .

When EV's complete on a par with fuel vehicles, get back to me.
See thru what? Im in favor of technology that wins in the arens of demandsAs the link stated, most Conservatives are in agreement with your statement. You should not object to a non-combustion engine. However, much of the targeting of the Heartland Institute is to Conservatives. So I do believe that you are more exposed to their propaganda. If that's the case, I am glad that you can see through it.

It's a hybrid, but not a conventional hybrid. It's a plug-in hybrid. It only has about a 50-mile range on electricity, but can run on gas indefinitely after that.
Closer, but no sale.If you have a Level 3 charger, your time has come. An electric car gives you about 300 miles of range. This charger - another 60. That'll get you there. You'll have to charge up in Vegas, for the return trip. A Level 2 charge, which are easier to find will fully recharge your car in 2 hours. You can stop and have a nice lunch. Better yet, take a tour bus for your extended trips, and you can have a party along the way.
How Do EV Charging Stations Work in 2019? | EnergySage
DC Fast Chargers, also known as Level 3 or CHAdeMO charging stations, can offer 60 to 100 miles of range for your electric car in just 20 minutes of charging.

As a former drag racer, I would really enjoy the hell out of the instant torque.
I believe the range would be hurt in the winter (we get in the negatives here).
And, long term, they are really going to hurt tax reciepts. States will have to get creative. Illinois is talking of passing a $1,000 registration fee every year to make up for the lack of gas tax. For gas cars, it's just $101.

That is great, was one of my biggest concerns about electric cars1. Can be charged from solar Photovoltaics. Imagine - no gasoline bills and no increase in electricity bills. Even if one chooses not to use PVs, he will realize a large reduction in fuel/power savings. Depending on the area of the country, this can be 1/3 or 1/2 as much.
I love the Volt for many reasons, one being able to keep going, past charge. The warranty is tops2. The power and drive train is warranteed for 8 years or 100,000 miles. That includes the batteries. Most owners are now easily getting 150,000-200,000 miles on their original batteries. One Volt owner (PHEV) boasts over 600,000 miles on his original batteries.
If that means it won't break down on my, that's fine with me. The rest is Chinese, for all I care3. Maintenance Costs of Electric Vehicles are much lower. That will show'm4. Incredible driveability. 0-60 in a few seconds. If you prefer, it's easy to maneuver ahead of traffic with that kind of acceleration.
That might be a problem if one doesn't look out for pedestrians. Lots of distracted people out there.5. Quiet as a sleeping kitten.
I should also mention that, in 2019, there is still a $7500 federal tax rebate on electric vehicles. Many states also have tax rebates and other incentives. Colorado has a $5000 state tax rebate.
