Politics and Politicians are killing California

This is a political discussion worth having.
There is and has been a fight over who gets the water in California's Central Valley the most productive farm land in the world and the Governor and the rest of the useless politicians are not doing a damn thing about it. The issue is a small fish with no commercial value and questionable environmental impact. But let's set that aside and focus on the preservation of this tiny fish, the Delta Smelt.
A simple solution to the problem of these fish being driven to extinction from being killed by the massive pumps used to put water in to the farming system is to build a hatchery to raise the fish in and then release them in as area away from the danger. The fish is very prolific and thrives in poor water conditions and could be raised in plastic lined trenches. The cost would be very low and the benefits wide spread not only to California's economy, jobs, the tax base, but the food supply to the Nationa and the export market as well.
This plan maybe a dumb idea but until it's given serious thought we won't know. Arnold knows about it as do a number of Radio Talk Show Hosts but and California politicians including Meh Whitman but not one of them has done a thing to try to do something about this problem.
It' would be nice to see some action one way or another and if enough people demand it someone will pay attention. I don't want any credit this is about a solution to a serious situation not a pat on the back if it were to work.

TIME TO TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY

If you don't think this is important then you are uninformed about the facts.
California is the 8th largest economy in the world and represents 1/8th on the Nations economics.
In farm production California is responsible for;
•Ranks first in total agricultural production.
•Ranks first in total crops production.
•Ranks second in total livestock & livestock product production.
•Ranks first in production of almonds (100% of U.S. production).
•Ranks first in production of avocados (96% of U.S. production).
•Ranks first in production of broccoli (92% of U.S. production).
•Ranks first in production of celery (93% of U.S. production).
•Ranks first in production of dairy products (20% of U.S. production).
•Ranks first in production of grapes (91% of U.S. production).
•Ranks first in production of greenhouse/nursery (21% of U.S. production).
•Ranks first in production of hay (14% of U.S. production).
•Ranks first in production of lemons (89% of U.S. production).
•Ranks first in production of lettuce (71% of U.S. production).
•Ranks first in production of onions (31% of U.S. production).
•Ranks first in production of peaches (54% of U.S. production).
•Ranks first in production of pistachio nuts (100% of U.S. production).
•Ranks first in production of plums (97% of U.S. production).
•Ranks first in production of strawberries (83% of U.S. production).
•Ranks first in production of tomatoes (53% of U.S. production).

All this and the Governor and State legislators still do nothing.
