(Politico) Trump ‘likely’ to push back July tariff deadline, Bessent says
--
President Donald Trump is “highly likely” to push back his July 8 deadline to reach deals with top trading partners, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told lawmakers Wednesday.

I can't figure it out? Can you?

The information coming out of the White House on tariff "deals" is totally beyond my ability to keep up.

About the only number I can remember is: "zero". That's the number of completed "deals", of which I'm aware.

Trump can't figure it out. He is a man without a plan. He just likes to sit in the oval office pushing buttons. "I wonder what this red does," he asks himself..

Let's remember that his approach to tariffs is contradictory....
A) if you are trying to protect American business (or induce people home), then the tariffs are permanent. We are not negotiating trade deals, we are protecting our businesses. OR
B) if you are trying to make a point to open other markets, you might have reciprocal tariffs (closing your market to others) that you use as a chip to get them to lower their tariffs to open their markets and you ease your tariffs.... but that is NOT protecting your home businesses, it is opening markets to them.
Remember, this is a man that things a trade deficit is indicative of us being "ripped out".... he has no understanding of economics nor does he surround himself (or listen to) those that actually do....

Where is TACO Don's #1 defender at comment #2 ?

Yes. He is what I said all along: an idiot savant at conning. And these days he's getting more senile and demented.

He's a bag of rash impulses, crass desires, criminality, corruption, attached and attached to that bag is a skull full of angry bees.

The way to get him to do what you want is to be the last person in the room with him. He generally has no idea why he's doing what he's doing apart from the last impulse, and he doesn't see anything even a little wrong with changing the what and a why on a whim, and repeatedly.

He's more dangeorusly incompetent than Il Duce.

He's also an absolute narcissist, a complete liar, an every-sin-you-can-name sort of chap.

Which works for him. The best way to create depressed and demoralized lab animals is by setting up living quarters such that various things randomly shock them, with no rhyme or reason. That's what he does to the world. (But I doubt it's a premeditated strategy. It's just a result of his stupid evil alignment). Fortunately, the world is populated by humans and many do not suffer his myriad flaws, so they tend to get angry and fight back.

I honestly can't see how we could have picked a worse President.

Given Trump's personality, which you described well, I believe the only way he has survived in the world was through the fortune of being born into wealth and power.

If you or I acted as he does, the Criminal Justice System would have eaten us up long ago!

Trump
Always
Chickens
Out

TACO Man will 'defer'.......

Clearly no one wants to deal with him. His bestie in Europe, Macron, says he can't be trusted.

Knowing he's all alone, that even the GOP is faltering will make him double down. Whether that leads to any deals depends on what he's willing to give away to get the appearance of a deal. He'll NEVER complete an actual new 'deal'. He never has. His deals are like his golf scores.....

I can't say I've seen the GOP "faltering" in support, to be honest.

Of course.

His bullshit was believable because he could afford custom shirts and hair implants.

His daddy gave him $20 million to play with then he got an inheritance. He's never really successfully closed a deal that wasn't in bankruptcy or about to be and has a history of over paying.

His greatest asset is bullshit. Early on he convinced the banks he was house broken and could be trusted.

When you can lose billions on a deal, what's a little sexual assault?

We have accepted that his sickness is a new 'normal' when he's a ****ing monster.

I noted the first negative headlines late last week and growing push back from congressmen who will soon have to go home and face their voters head on.

My read from here is the "silent majority" is quietly seething....although that could be wishful thinking, a desire to not believe all of Amerika has degenerated into biker-mentality haters

It's been a very long time since the term "Amerika" was used.

Unbelievably, it's not in Wiki. And Google shows nothing.

I'd like to see our young people become aware of it's use, again. With just that one consonant flip, a million words are said. It's a great descriptor, literally perfect for the time - don't you think?
