I still say we should categorize domestic gangs as terrorist organisations and commit as much time and resources toward them as we do Al Qaeda and other such groups. Lets at least clean up our own neighborhoods before we police the world.
Unless Americans are allowed to openly discuss race, intelligence, genetics, racial characteristics and their sociological effects on civilized society, none of these problems will ever be solved. They will never even be defined. Add into the mix, the rampant, uncontrolled 3rd world immigration into the United States and we will simply return to a nation of warring tribes. We are probably 60% down that road right now.
I chose AK47's because most of the good citizens of Detroit have been denied the right to arms by their oppressive government. Being unfamiliar with the operation and maintenance of more sophisticated weapons, AK47's would serve them well in culling the herd of the Idiots among them.
Yup, having American police and military forces treat American Citizens the same way we treat foreign terrorists, en-mass and on our own soil, is a marvelous idea. But why stop there? The government won't, once that Pandora's box is open...

Eric Holder, the nation's first black attorney general, said Wednesday the United States was "a nation of cowards" on matters of race, with most Americans avoiding candid discussions of racial issues.
In a speech to Justice Department employees marking Black History Month, Holder said the workplace is largely integrated but Americans still self-segregate on the weekends and in their private lives.
"Though this nation has proudly thought of itself as an ethnic melting pot, in things racial we have always been and I believe continue to be, in too many ways, essentially a nation of cowards," Holder said.
Race issues continue to be a topic of political discussion, but "we, as average Americans, simply do not talk enough with each other about race."
Holder cited that speech by Obama as part of the motivation for his words Wednesday, saying Americans need to overcome an ingrained inhibition against talking about race.
"If we're going to ever make progress, we're going to have to have the guts, we have to have the determination, to be honest with each other. It also means we have to be able to accept criticism where that is justified," Holder told reporters after the speech.
Race, Holder said, "is an issue we have never been at ease with and, given our nation's history, this is in some ways understandable... If we are to make progress in this area, we must feel comfortable enough with one another and tolerant enough of each other to have frank conversations about the racial matters that continue to divide us."
Even when people mix at the workplace or afterwork social events, Holder argued, many Americans in their free time are still segregated inside what he called "race-protected cocoons."
"Saturdays and Sundays, America in the year 2009 does not in some ways differ significantly from the country that existed almost 50 years ago. This is truly sad," said Holder.
On September 11, 2,996 people died on US soil due to a terrorist attacks. As a result we created new departments of government, expanded our intelligence capability, expanded government powers to monitor and detain even US citizens. We have spent over an additional trillion dollars to combat potential threats to the US and US interests not to mention put our troops into harms way in several countries. Plus much more...
VS.
From 2006-2010 alone, 5042 people died as a result of gang violence on US soil. What have we done? Not nearly enough.
I just think our priorities are a little skewed is all. We are willing to go to great effort and expense all over the world but it just seems we lack conviction to make things right here at home. When I hear about authorities warning people that it is unsafe to go into certain neighborhoods I think 3rd world countries, not the USA. I think we need to focus inward for a time and clean up our own country instead of policing the world.

If only solving Detroit's problems was as simple as the plot of a 70's grind-house film. Destroying the rule of law and militarizing the city are not going to bring life back to the city. It needs economic growth. The city has been run into the ground by corruption, debt, overly restrictive land-use laws and business regulations, and a cozy relationship with the automakers that left the city with nowhere to go after they left. If Detroit wants to pay its cops enough to keep them there, pay for services, and return business to the city, politics need to change. Business's need to have an easier time opening. The city needs to attract these people to do business in Detroit. The city's politicians will not accomplish this by tax-boondoggles such as convention centers and sports stadiums. It needs to be easier to do business in Detroit, and the city's leaders have been slow to act, as they have been in many other large cities. Land-use needs to become less regulated so that developers can clear the vast, abandoned tracts of the Wayne County. Detroit's recovery cannot happen overnight, but cheap land has already attracted some investors, entrepreneurs, and a growing artist community.
Going public strongly suggests that this Lt Patterson believes her behavior, and her expectations, are perfectly acceptable.lieutenant patterson, who now feels jilted, apparently, cuz chief goodbee took another woman to a party, is now alleging that she was offered a promotion by goodbee in return for her favors
and she's releasing emails she's kept to show her case
she also says she's saved a used condom to prove it
but it gets worse
lieutenant patterson claims she emailed mayor david bing's office thru his deputy saul green informing them of what was going on, and "they weren't interested in doing anything"
Not just here, but in our society in general.I agree with you. One cannot even discuss race, etc., etc., on this forum without it leading to charges of racism. Makes me sick.

I prefer my Canadian made weapons.
Detroit is long past the point where reducing taxes to more businesses friendly levels will accomplish much. The people are toxic and beyond redemption. I support letting them starve to death but, honestly, they'll kill each other off long before then.
This country needs to scale back social programs drastically to avoid creating more Detroits, Newarks, etc.
