Do you prefer stepside beds, or fleetside beds? Currently, fleetsides out number stepsides by about 20-1, but it certainly wasn't always that way.

Does the age of the pick-up matter? Now, according to this article, the fleetside wasn't even introduced until 1955, so anything older than that is a moot question.

How about the recent trends toward "sportside", kind of a hybrid between the two?

Also, long beds, or short beds?

Me: I like the aesthetics of stepsides, but even if it's a nice truck to me it's still a truck and needs to be functional as a truck. I tend to prefer long bed fleetsides. I recently had a 2002 F-150 that had a full 8' bed with an extended cab. That thing was 20' long, overall. Navigating parking lots was interesting.

I also once had a 1965 Chevy C10 that had a long bed fleetside, and a 4x8 piece of plywood would lay perfectly flat between the wheel wells and the front and back. That was nice.

I like trucks that match me personally: small and practical.
As for looks- I like plain and functional, so that I don't obsess about getting the bed messed up and scratched. Fleetside, stepside, none of it matters to me. Hauling capacity is the name of the game for me. :)

i plan to have one eventually.

my favorite was my grandfather's International Harvester. i believe it was a 1961, but i'm not certain.

had a lot of good times riding in that truck as a kid.

I own three trucks right now. All Fords. Newest is a 2007 Ford F150 Stepside. All Black with Silver stripes up the hood , roof, and Tailgate. I bought the truck new this way. Second is a 1995 F350 dually diesel. I use it to haul my camper and race car. Love that truck but hate filling it up. Last but not least is a 77 Bronco. 289 cu inch 3 speed. Its a rusty turd but its a ball to drive. No doors, no heater, just two seats and a windshield really.

Best pickup I ever owned was a 1968 VW like this one that would carry more than 1/2 ton, with storage compartments under the bed and fold down sides to make it a flat bed if needed, and it got almost 30 mpg.

i love old dodge and ford trucks, not a big fan of chevies except the really old ones.

one of my favorites to drive was my old 1960 dodge truck,it had a 318 polysphere(kinda a half hemi)4 on the floorgranny low,the door step was built inside the cab and to this day the only model of truck i have ever seen like that.

i got it for free because it sat for 20 years,i changed the plugs rebuilt the carb and tranny and put 4 used tires on it,all together for what i put in it i got a year of hard driving before the engine blew on it.

this isnt my truck but its the same year

The title fooled me. I was all ready for some lover to come pick me up.

I own two trucks, a 97 Chevy Silverado and a 99 GMC Sierra. The Silverado is a single-cab step-side and it looks better than the Sierra. The Silverado also has a 5.7 liter engine, and it can be a lot of fun to drive. Sure the step-side has a smaller bed, but that isn't a problem for me.

Beer is that a pic of an old 409 cu in Chevy motor? I am not a big chevy guy but I had an old impala with a 409 in it and the valve covers looked just like that.

Are you pooping me? ... wow.

Kindof like that VW diesel car that gets like 80mpg or whatever.
If that care started to sell theyd pronounce anyone who sold it a terrorist and bomb them with drones.

i hate this psychotic planet.

no that is an old polysphere smallblock.the heads look like that because the valves are at diffent angles than a wedge motor.it actually looks alot different from a 409.

I'm pretty happy with mine though I sometimes regret not getting an extended cab.

I liked the look of this model and bought the first time I saw it.

I prefer the look of the StepSide, but I prefer the extra room in the bed of the fleetside. Mine is a '99 F-250, SuperCab long bed. My brother calls it "The Big Green Pickle"

Got ya. Seemed like that 409 had some crazy looking valve covers like that one. Never seen one of those then I guess.
