Libertarians are just a bunch of potheads.
So can socialists. :mrgreen:I should take that as a compliment then. I mean come on, pot heads can grow up to become president too:mrgreen:
Had he come across as anything but apologetic his brand name would be ruined but I can see how fellow pot heads might not immediately grasp that.
"This is not a situation where any anti-doping rule was violated, but we decided to send a strong message to Michael because he disappointed so many people, particularly the hundreds of thousands of USA Swimming member kids who look up to him as a role model and a hero," the Colorado Springs-based federation said in a statement.
"Michael has voluntarily accepted this reprimand and has committed to earn back our trust," the statement said.
Phelps won a record eight gold medals in Beijing and returned to America as one of the world's most acclaimed athletes. He made headlines of a different kind, however, in the wake of the photo, published Sunday by News of the World, a British tabloid.
Earlier Thursday, cereal and snack maker Kellogg Co. announced it wouldn't renew its sponsorship contract with Phelps, saying his behavior is "not consistent with the image of Kellogg." The swimmer appeared on the company's cereal boxes after his Olympic triumph.
Phelps has lost a major endorsement deal and has been suspended for three months by USA Swimming.

Successful troll is successful.Libertarians are just a bunch of potheads.
Learned? He smoked weed... Cry me a river. Most of those kids who look up to him now will be trying it when they are in high school, anyway.Good, three months is about right. Give him a chance to fix this, or to show he has not learned.
Maybe Ill hold a sign up near a freeway for the guy anyways.
"America, stop being stupid. He is still a phenomenal athlete who happened to smoke an illegal substance the majority of you have tried at least once. **** off."What exactly will your sign say?

He has not been kicked off of the swim team, he took a voluntary suspension. If you were right Ego, then Kellogs wouldn't have dropped him, and he'd not been kicked off the swim team.
I would imagine it is not, since most people have tried Cannabis at least once. The fault here is simple, with much of the "it's just pot" arguments. Maybe it was just "pot" and maybe it's not really that big a deal to most people.
I agree with you here. That's immaterial, those paying for Mr. Phelps services, I.E. swimming, endorsements and the like, they don't like it. And he's knew it. He CHOSE to behave in a manner that endangered his career and livelihood. He acted like an idiot. He has a chance to fix this.
Stoners should form a massive boycott of Kellog's.
I know it won't happen, but they should.
But the munchies man they will get the stoners every time.

I don't either. I do, however, feel that he is the victim of a false stigma that surrounds Cannabis usage. While that may be true, the majority of us haven't been stupid enough to have a picture taken in the process. Frankly, I don't feel sorry for him one bit.
If all olympians ,from all countries ,were comprehensively tested for pot use, my guess is about half would test positive. They were all clean for the games, but my guess is as they let their hair down anywhere from a few days to a few weeks after the games ended, a few parties were smokey. Weed isn`t the most evil thing on earth. In the world of competitive sports I`m thinking steroids are a much bigger crime, just not as sesational.

Michael Phelps is not "all Olympians". He is the most successful Olympian in history and is a role model for countless young people who see to emulate his success in the sport of swimming. I even heard a couple of kids at the pool a few days ago mention it. Even here in Taiwan, kids look up to Phelps and there is a large poster-picture of him on the walls of the pool.
Point well made, and well taken. The kids are gonna have to plow through enough without someone suggesting even in the slightest way, that they should give up a few years of their lives getting stoned.
