People need to work longer hours

That's interesting. Jeb mentions longer hours, the libs think he means slave labor hours, what I hear is getting back to 40 hours a week. That was normal at one time, for those of you who remember the times before Obamacare. I know, I know... we are all supposed to make $15 a hour, 30 hours a week with no skills a free school, but none of that happens unless somebody is producing something.

I guess I'm out of touch, are you saying 40 hours is not normal? Since when?

Since Obamacare. Many companies cut 40 hour employees to under 30 hours a week to avoid having to cover their health insurance costs. It happened a lot actually, but companies don't want to admit it out of fear of being demonized for defending their own existence. We saw it happen at several auto parts stores in the area, orders handed down from corporate. Now only the managers are "full time" as in over 30 hours a week. But liberals won't admit it, ever the ones who now make less because of it. It was Obama's attempt at being able to claim he created more jobs. Companies now have more people covering the same amount of work as a total, but those who used to work 40 hours a week and are now at 25ish are either working more (two jobs plus an extra commute) for less (since they are part time instead of full time) and are more dependent on government assistance.

It's a win/ win for the administration. They now own health care, they can claim more people are covered, although even if they have policies they can't use them because the deductibles are so high, and they can claim more people are working. But what is also up is poverty and food stamps. So they found a way to create a low end working class that can not live without Big Brother and are convinced it is their employer's fault. Classic liberalism. Lie, divide, and profit. That way those who now depend on you keep voting for you. And since everybody is now convinced they are a special flower because everybody gets a trophy, they actually think they are smart enough to not be fool. Guess what... they have been played. They are idiots, and as such will always be the low end working class supporting corrupt leaders.

To add insult to injury it's my guess that these people who's hours have been cut so they don't get Insured will now also have to pay the fine ...er I mean Tax for not having insurance...how am I doing?

You're the one who made the claim of causation, I merely refuted it by pointing to a statistic that directly measures your allegation. If you want to prove causation for your claim that the ACA is exacerbating underemployment, then go for it.

Having a job and associating with people who have jobs, I'm exposed to this REALITY all the time. NOW THEN, what do you think about Jeb's comments in the OP??

So you have no proof, got it.

What percentage of my income should be taken in taxes?

i'd support rates similar to what we have now; possibly slightly increased for all brackets, but no higher than what they were in the 1990s. i also support taxing all income as income above a cap while lowering the corporate rate to be more competitive with Europe.

and I agree on the wars. won't happen though.

definitely not. those in charge haven't read Sun Tzu, and most of them slept through world history class, apparently. we'll probably go the way of most other empires. hopefully if there's a collapse, we'll manage to come out of it as a solid, sustainable nation like England while some other nation with leaders who haven't studied history tries to become the "premier global superpower." that's probably the best case scenario.

Yeah, his dad was on the presidential ticket that made the promise to the American people 35 years ago- just work harder, work longer hours, give up more of your personal life, spend more years in school, accept harsher conditions, give up the idea of ever being off the clock, be more productive, and then you'll become stinking rich. And the American people believed them. And for 35 years, we did exactly all of those things. Our productivity and hours surged through the roof. We're way, way, ahead of every other country on those measures now.

So, did it play out like they said? Did some of the value we created with all that hard work trickle back down to us? Nope. Not one stinking penny. Heck, the bottom 90% of us- who work far more and are far more productive than ever before- actually make LESS today than they did when Reagan/Bush made that commitment to us- Inequality in America

But here they are again saying the same exact damn thing. What gives this guy the balls? They screwed us, completely. We trusted them and they effed us as hard as they could for 35 years straight and now they come to us with their hand out asking for even more? First, they need to give us back what they owe us. A 20% increase in the median wage would at least start to catch us up to where we would be if we still got the same share of our productivity that we did in 1980. Let's do that and then maybe we can talk about giving you even more, but even then, I don't think anybody would be open to making that deal with you again without some pretty serious assurances about exactly how we would be dealt in this time. We certainly wouldn't just trust you again after what you did last time.

And how exactly does Jeb plan to "grow the incomes" of people working two jobs?

You are correct sir. And next year the fines go up.

And with it will undoubtedly come the conclusion that more welfare is needed to help these people that now have even less.

Most certainly.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said in an interview Wednesday that “people need to work longer hours” to help grow the economy.

According to ABC News, Bush was asked a question about tax reform during an interview live streamed on Periscope, and said he believes the U.S. can achieve 4 percent growth.

“Which means we have to be a lot more productive, workforce participation has to rise from its all-time modern lows,” Bush continued. “It means that people need to work longer hours.”

The Democratic National Committee said Bush’s remarks were “easily one of the most out-of-touch comments we’ve heard so far this cycle,” according to ABC.

According to a transcript sent by his campaign, Bush clarified his comments Wednesday night after a town hall event in New Hampshire.

Asked whether he was saying “somebody working two jobs needs to be working even more time,” Bush replied, “Absolutely not. Their incomes need to grow.”

He went on to say that “the simple fact is people are really struggling. So giving people a chance to work longer hours has got to be part of the answer. If not, you are going to see people lose hope. And that’s where we are today.”

Jeb Bush:

Typical Bush, but early. Normally they act like flower petals until they are the tyrants.

Today the CEO is paid "300 times the workers pay" even when knowing nothing about the product that Industry sells.

But that is Politic 2015, Corporations vs. People due to Citizens United. Nothing more warping and alarming than Rand Paul having a top donor Super Pac named Citizens United.

I don't know that it will be easy to get up to 4 percent growth. The chalice is looking as poisoned as the one his brother was passed by the Clinton people. He would be lucky not to preside over a collapse of the economy.

Bush already said "oops" on that Free Market/Profit over Humanity issue.

Are we going to double down? (excuse me, TRIPLE)

I am not sure I see, what you want to say with that.

Which is what separates the weak from the strong.

True. When one cannot express oneself and uses a well known video instead, it is weak not strong. ;)

I'm sure that if I dig long and hard enough I can show you the proof you don't want to see and allow you to continue to try to derail this discussion...

Go for it. You're the one who made the assertion - back it up.
