Why should we care about Trump getting the jet legally? We have more important things to do than be green with envy.
For one, it makes no sense to spend upwards of a billion dollars to retrofit a plane that's only going to be available to one president for maybe a year or two, something never done before. For another, it's circumventing the law if he takes ownership. For another, if the plane goes to Trump, that means this whole scheme was a lie just to gift Trump with a billion dollar jet. For another, never has the government gifted an ex-president with such a lavish gift. It would make more sense for the government to give it to his library, instead of his son's foundation, which was setup just to accept the plane. It would make far more sense to keep the plane in service for future presidents.
Bottom line here is that Trump is a crook. He has been one for years. But he seems to have two kinds of supporters. First are republicans who overlook his sins — publicly at least — seeing him as an flawed instrument to get the policies they want. Second are those he claimed wouldn’t mind if he shot someone on Fifth Avenue, who ignore that insult to them, as well as his crooked university, crooked foundation, his bigoted comments, his many failed businesses, his felony conviction, his being found liable for the sort of sexual assaults he bragged about, his comical adjustment of a weather map… and lots of stuff I have left out.

My opinion is the left has not proven a law was broken here.
You may be right if we are on the same page, that is, about the gift plane. But as I believe I posted, this is small potatoes compared to his other law breaking.
So not only is it a stupid idea to take the plane, it was Trump's administration who begged for it.
