Pence: We Don't Want CDC Guidance...

Your post said absolutely nothing. I will ask again. What has this agency done that has made any difference in the deaths or illnesses from this virus? A 2 page PDF written by their department does not constitute proof of anything. It looks like someone's job resume.

You don't know what it does, but it did it wrong and Benedict Donald has to take over the job after having read a prescription label and instantly became an epidemiologist.

Your ignorant condescending dismissal of an organization you have zero knowledge of is indicative of quality of your opinion.

What are the economic implications of being the only first world country with the virus?

The other countries are well on their way to getting it under control.

We're already excluded from travel to those countries once they open.

How will the current restrictions on trade w/ the US impact our economy
if these restrictions are extended indefinitely because we decide to give up
and keep covid around instead of fighting it and getting rid of it?

These countries have not gotten rid of the virus nobody will unless there is a cure. It is always going to be with us. It is time to deal with that fact. The only thing I can see that these countries have not had to endure are continuous massive protests across their countries during this time as we have which leads one to consider that 9 weeks of continuous protests has something to do with the increase in cases here in the U.S.. Another is we have tested a heck of a lot more than other countries.

Did we cure SARS?

Did we come up w/ a vaccine for SARS?

Is SARS endemic in the US?

It seems like you may be using a false dichotomy.
We have choices other than let covid become endemic like the common cold and find a cure.

I saw your straw man attempt.
"under control" ≠ "gotten rid of"

You haven't said what good the CDC is now in 5 posts. I will assume you can't.

If Jonsa does not educate you about the CDC,
that is irrefutable evidence that the CDC serves no purpose whatsoever!

It'll count against Trump for not eliminating them already.
Is that what you want?
Just another lame attempt to make up something to bash Trump about? Learn a new trick already.

Can I try? The CDC publishes the CV19 numbers and graphs of who/what/where on their website. Some NEWS channels use the CDC charts daily. I fear the numbers will stop, or not be as accurate.

I don't understand your post.

I couldn't agree more.

i see you can't answer your own question. willful ignorance is the refuge of the intellectually lazy and incurious.

Seems that Trump has now agreed with me and pulled data collection away from the CDC. They aren't even good at the main thing they do it seems.

Yes, Trump agreeing with you is not a surprise.

Of course. He doesn't like the data they put out because it doesn't make him look good.

Because the CDC is a bunch of entrenched wonks whose only job is to collect data and they do that poorly so he in effect fired their lazy asses.

This is why I got silence when I asked just what good the CDC does. No one here knew.

Blah blah blah. Why don't you do something useful for once and put your ****ing mask on.

ummmm..because I am not sick? Why should I wear a mask to calm the fears of snowflakes? Help me to understand.

WTF?

Yep, he actually said that.

So I guess it comes down to what...Jesus saving?

As the outbreak hits record levels in the United States, increasing in 41 states over the past two weeks, governors and mayors across the nation are scrambling to try to contain it, issuing new mask orders, limiting the size of gatherings and preparing for the worst.

A fourth of the world's total of new cases are in the southern half of the United States.

The U.S. is averaging over 60,000 new cases a day. Today the total is 70,028 and counting. The death toll continue to surge, today 924 and counting. United States Coronavirus: 3,615,379 Cases and 140,095 Deaths - Worldometer

Coronavirus hospitalizations in California are at an all-time high, and doctors and nurses at some hospitals say the nightmare has arrived. Hospitals in Florida are overwhelmed as the state reports record virus deaths. Texas hospitals are running out of drugs, beds, ventilators, and staff.

Trump traveled to Atlanta today, headquarters for the CDC, to talk about ... infrastructure.

Trump will now control the coronavirus pandemic statistics.

USA Today reports, "The Trump administration ordered hospitals to bypass the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and send all COVID-19 patient information to a central database in Washington, starting Wednesday, according to a Health and Human Services document updated July 10.

"The hand-off had an immediate effect. Wednesday afternoon one of the important CDC pages that tracked changes over time in how many hospital beds in the nation are occupied by COVID-19 patients ceased working. The CDC confirmed the page's disappearance was a consequence of the switch."

Dr. Robert Redfield, CDC director, indicated the change would not be detrimental.

Uh-huh, yeah, sure.

I wonder if Pence and the administration will be as "Johnny on the Spot" for California as they promised yesterday to be for Louisiana? (see post 39)
He reassured them that they've got 60,000 respirators, all the testing and PPE and personnel anyone could need, all ready to answer the call. Pence is confident they can contain the Germ. It sounds like he's got the perfect opportunity to prove it, waiting for him.

I wonder how all this fantastic assistance and support works. Does the state have to call them up, like they used to have to do for FEMA? Or does the government call and ask what they can do? You'd think VP Pence would be eager to show everyone how well they can do this thing......the President's reelection is counting on it, right?
