These countries have not gotten rid of the virus nobody will unless there is a cure. It is always going to be with us. It is time to deal with that fact. The only thing I can see that these countries have not had to endure are continuous massive protests across their countries during this time as we have which leads one to consider that 9 weeks of continuous protests has something to do with the increase in cases here in the U.S.. Another is we have tested a heck of a lot more than other countries.

We have choices other than let covid become endemic like the common cold and find a cure.

If Jonsa does not educate you about the CDC,
that is irrefutable evidence that the CDC serves no purpose whatsoever!

It'll count against Trump for not eliminating them already.

Can I try? The CDC publishes the CV19 numbers and graphs of who/what/where on their website. Some NEWS channels use the CDC charts daily. I fear the numbers will stop, or not be as accurate.

Seems that Trump has now agreed with me and pulled data collection away from the CDC. They aren't even good at the main thing they do it seems.

Because the CDC is a bunch of entrenched wonks whose only job is to collect data and they do that poorly so he in effect fired their lazy asses.

This is why I got silence when I asked just what good the CDC does. No one here knew.

Trump traveled to Atlanta today, headquarters for the CDC, to talk about ... infrastructure.

Trump will now control the coronavirus pandemic statistics.

USA Today reports, "The Trump administration ordered hospitals to bypass the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and send all COVID-19 patient information to a central database in Washington, starting Wednesday, according to a Health and Human Services document updated July 10.

"The hand-off had an immediate effect. Wednesday afternoon one of the important CDC pages that tracked changes over time in how many hospital beds in the nation are occupied by COVID-19 patients ceased working. The CDC confirmed the page's disappearance was a consequence of the switch."

Dr. Robert Redfield, CDC director, indicated the change would not be detrimental.

I wonder if Pence and the administration will be as "Johnny on the Spot" for California as they promised yesterday to be for Louisiana? (see post 39)
He reassured them that they've got 60,000 respirators, all the testing and PPE and personnel anyone could need, all ready to answer the call. Pence is confident they can contain the Germ. It sounds like he's got the perfect opportunity to prove it, waiting for him.

I wonder how all this fantastic assistance and support works. Does the state have to call them up, like they used to have to do for FEMA? Or does the government call and ask what they can do? You'd think VP Pence would be eager to show everyone how well they can do this thing......the President's reelection is counting on it, right?
