Pence Distorts History

So what you're saying is that Americans should disregard the statements of the Vice-President?

Yes of course. The VP in the U.S. is Mr. Irrelevant unless something happens to the president or he has to break a tie in the Senate.

It's just par for the course for the Trumpists. If someone says something dumb it's "why are you paying any attention to him" and other times it's "hang on their every word and obey their commands."

CNN can, and usually does. :lamo

Only in your mind and those of the other minions.

No matter how often it is pointed out that when a person on CNN says something stupid or wrong, instead of focusing on the speaker, the minions attack the entire network - I wonder why.

When did that happen?

When did Johnson become uneducated or are you asking when Trump became uneducated? Johnson didn't go to school. Trump became uneducated as soon as he began going to school. Attending class does not make one educated.

Or are you asking when the GOP became the racist, white nationalist, party?

Most likely because the entire Network has gone from the number 1 rated cable news provider to the lowest rated news provider in just under 2 years with viewer ratings falling into the 20's. Nickelodeon has better viewer ratings than CNN.

All because of fake news. They lost another 35% of their viewers the day the Mueller report came out after 2 years of editorials, interviews, and promises of Trump being a planted Russian asset who worked with Russia to influence the election, having their porn star attorney Avenatti discussing his bid for president with over 200 interviews to include his claims of Kavanaugh being a serial rapist.

The intelligent viewers left the network in droves but CNN hasn't learned anything. Even the Washington post refuses to allow their reporters to be interview by CNN.

Yeah, when did this switch happen. When did the racists and the national dumbassery at large switch parties

1964 - the Goldwater campaign for the presidency and the passage of the Civil Rights Act

When did the racists switch parties. Are you trying convince me of the southern strategy myth?

Nope. No person can convince a TRUE BELIEVER that their beliefs are fallacious.

The "southern "strategy myth" - a bit of an explanation for those wishing to learn
How the ‘Party of Lincoln’ Won Over the Once Democratic South
Democratic defectors, known as the “Dixiecrats,” started a switch to the Republican party in a movement that was later fueled by a so-called "Southern strategy."

The night that Democratic President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964, his special assistant Bill Moyers was surprised to find the president looking melancholy in his bedroom. Moyers later wrote that when he asked what was wrong, Johnson replied, “I think we just delivered the South to the Republican party for a long time to come.”

It may seem a crude remark to make after such a momentous occasion, but it was also an accurate prediction.

To understand some of the reasons the South went from a largely Democratic region to a primarily Republican area today, just follow the decades of debate over racial issues in the United States.
(. . .)
Though some Democrats had switched to the Republican party prior to this, “the defections became a flood” after Johnson signed these acts, Goldfield says. “And so the political parties began to reconstitute themselves.”

The change wasn’t total or immediate. During the late 1960s and early ‘70s, white Southerners were still transitioning away from the Democratic party (newly enfranchised black Southerners voted and continue to vote Democratic). And even as Republican Richard Nixon employed a “Southern strategy” that appealed to the racism of Southern white voters, former Alabama Governor George Wallace (who’d wanted “segregation now, segregation tomorrow, and segregation forever”) ran as a Democrat in the 1972 presidential primaries.

I'll admit to being much less of a CNN fan than I once was. I like their format much better than Fox. However, CNN sensationalizes news more than I find necessary. If you happen to listen to CNN on the radio you quickly realize that CNN put commercial back in commercial radio.

If I'm going to watch a 24 hr news program I prefer MSNBC.

All in all anyone who watches Fox News as their major news source has no business throwing rocks at CNN.

The real problem is that MOST Americans won't watch straight news. Americans want to think they are informed but they have no desire and many haven't the skills required to actually be informed. Far too many people don't want to do the grunt work. Americans want to be entertained with "news" being fed to them by Ken and Barbie news celebrities.

As the brilliant Canadian philosopher and visionary Marshall McCluhan once said, "The medium is the message". Never have his words been truer than they are today.

The "southern "strategy myth" - a bit of an explanation for those wishing to learn

So for the Southern strategy myth to be true, there were about 200 Dixiecrats who jumped parties from Democrat to Republican. All these racist Democrats switched parties and that's how the Republican party became the white supremacy racist party.

I would love to know the names of all these racist Democrat Dixiecrats that switched parties. Care to provide their names?

Where do you get "200 Dixiecrats"? It seems that your source for that statement, whatever it may be, would have those names. Why should I do your research for you?

I watch a venue of media sources to include some Fox news. I like the 5 and Bret Baier. I don't subscribe to the Lefts scripted bashing of Fox not to mention they hold 4 of the top 5 positions in viewer ratings.

Nobody on the left likes Fox because they don't like how Fox doesn't jump on the (lets get Trump) portfolio. You can't even comment on DP about anything positive the administration is doing without the left accusations of being a cultist so, no, I don't really care what the left has to say about Fox.

If the left had anything other than their hatred of anything pro Trump Fox has to say it might carry some weight but I could list from memory at least 20 major news stories coming out of left media that were knowingly false when they aired them. I will give you just one of the latest examples.

During the Sondland testimony, Adam Schiff calls for a break and runs to the media to proclaim how Sondlands testimony will impeach Trump and regales Sondlands answers to his questions like Sondland has the winning ticket.

One hour later under republican questioning, we find out that nobody told any of this to Sondland, he was only testifying to what he presumed happen. That portion of his testimony just destroyed anything he testified too earlier. He wasn't a witness to anything. He was just making it up.

That nights news segments from the left NEVER mentioned the bombshell testimony from Sondland that he has no evidence of anything. Instead the left ONLY subscribed to Adam Schiffs accounts of Sondland like this never happened.

Jump over to Fox and they are calling out the left for not airing the actual testimony of Sondland admitting he doesn't know anything while proclaiming Sondlands testimony was an official account of Trumps treason.

You tell me after viewing this 2 minute video, which story promoted in the media was the true story?

A quote from the PBS News Hour video
Sondland testified that there was a “quid pro quo” in which U.S. aid and a White House meeting were contingent on Ukraine agreeing to investigate the 2016 elections and the Ukrainian energy company Burisma, where the son of 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden, Hunter, sat on the board. Sondland also said he understood the “prerequisites” to be a reflection of “Trump’s desires and requirements.”

Because they don't exist. You can't provide ANY list of all these supposed Dixiecrats who changed parties. Why? Because its nothing but a myth drawn up by the left to try and shed years of their own bias, racism, and hatred of blacks in this country.

If you had a list or could even find one you would post it. I would think you would be just chomping at the bit to show me a list of all these racist Republicans. But you can't.

It just another fairy tale made up to suck in the educationally challenged on how the Democrats became the saviors of the black race.

IF you could provide support for YOUR claim about 200 Dixiecrats, then there might be a discussion - otherwise, nah.

That is what happens when you hang around with Trump too long. He has to be the most clueless person in the country when it comes to history. I must say I was embarrassed for the country when I heard his comments at the D-Day commemoration and his speech at his Fourth of July extravaganza. Did this guy really grow up in this country?

Pence's grasp of history is as tenuous as his grasp of the Bible, which is sketchy at best, and just plain weird most of the time.

IF you could provide support for YOUR claim about 200 Dixiecrats, then there might be a discussion - otherwise, nah.

I knew you would run from the conversation. The left always does when they get cornered.

You are the one claiming the Southern strategy exist, not me. All I asked you to do was provide the names of all these Dixiecrats who changed parties. I didn't realize that would be such a task.

You can't believe the Southern strategy exist without believing the party switch myth. If you can't name any, that should tell you everything you need to know.

And how many racist Dixiecrats did Nixon win for the GOP? Turns out, virtually none. Only one Dixiecrat congressman, Albert Watson of South Carolina, switched to the GOP. The rest, more than 200 Dixiecrat senators, congressmen, governors and high elected officials, all stayed in the Democratic Party.
