Many Republicans, conservatives, and Trump supporters willingly mislead us concerning the Covid-19 threat by ignoring reality.
VP Pence recently played Pied Piper downplaying the current Covid-19 reality as part of the GOP re-election campaign.

Vice President Mike Pence argued Tuesday that “panic is overblown” surrounding the possibility of a second wave of COVID-19 despite fears of a resurgence of the virus that shuttered the economy and killed more than 100,000 Americans. “

In recent days, the media has taken to sounding the alarm bells over a 'second wave' of coronavirus infections. Such panic is overblown,” Pence wrote in an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal. “Lost in the coverage is the fact that today less than 6 percent of Americans tested each week are found to have the virus.”

The vice president noted “more than half” of the states are seeing case numbers decline or remain stable.

He added that daily infections in the U.S. were dropping to an average of 20,000, down from 30,000 per day in April and 25,000 in May. Pence, the leader of the White House coronavirus task force, noted that deaths were down to an average of 750 per day, down from 2,500 per day a few weeks ago. He said the U.S. is now performing roughly 500,000 coronavirus tests per day.

Same with the Governor here in Texas, with the cases and hospitalizations spiking here he went on air basically to cover his arse while at the same time continuing to reopen even more.
Once again I would remind everyone that no one has said it is Safe they are just saying go back to work we need the money. By November many Republicans are going to looking for a new job.

Those of us in states that are handling the virus in a conservative, quantitative, scientific manner, look at Trump and governors of states like Texas & Florida, and wonder what the hell is going-on?

Is it any wonder Texas keeps trending Bluer? Hell, Beto gave Cruz a run, and he's even too goofy & liberal for most of us Northerners!

I guess Abbott wants to hurry the process along. When it finally happens, there's going to be a whole lot of conservative Texans that are going to be at loss to understand what happened. It's a shame, too. Because every one of us wants to believe we have a little of that rugged Texas independence in us!

Dude, I live I Texas and am wondering what the heck. How they think is going to work out for them is a mystery.

Yeup, and it will eventually go back to a Blue State.

Well sometimes Cobs live I an alternate universe, and yes when the real world collides with theirs they are at a loss to figure out why theirs lost.
You don't have to be a Con to be a rugged guy or gal that believes in Independence.

Here at home, weeks after lifting stay-at-home orders, 18 states are seeing record numbers of hospitalizations from Covid-19 as thousands more Americans get infected every day. If you look at a map I believe you will find most those states are blue states where the people railed against being in lock down. Texas is still considered Red but the heavy populated large cities; Austin, El Paso, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and the Rio Grande Valley vote Democratic.

Further away, China raised its emergency warning to its second-highest level and canceled more than 60% of the flights to Beijing on Wednesday amid a new coronavirus outbreak in the capital. They had recently declared the virus was eliminated there and opened up everything including the wet markets, where is seems to be coming from again.

To me the second wave seems to be well on it's way, I think July will be the shocker.

If you look at who is getting the virus you will see the trend has shifted from the older population to those younger, the ones who were willing to take their chances because it was not going to happen to them.

I hope that Palpatine cureburgers the virus by hitting it with finger lightning while looking on with his presidential somber face.

Why would I listen to someone as anti-science as Pence talk about a pandemic? He needs to go back to ignoring the outbreak where he can do as little damage as possible.

Christmas would come early!

Independance & liberty are the traditional hallmarks of Classical Liberalism. Except that terms get misused and politically modified, and now 'liberalism' too often gets conflated with social support.

The Cons made the word Liberal to mean Bad for many, most of the things we have to be thankful for with our system and way of life is due to Liberals. Sadly too many bought the Lie so we live with it, wear it like a badge of Honor, you will earn it by stand by your principles.

I come from ethnic stock that was pretty kicked-around back in the day. Trust me, with all the cultura pride I was raised with, I don't turn my back on who I am for anything. Sometimes when you first start out in this country, all you've got is your pride. So you don't barter that away for anything!

I've been all through Texas, and stayed in Dallas for about 6 months. The state is very diverse, and I don't mean racially. The differences between Dallas/Ft. Worth, Houston, Austin, Corpus Christi, San Antonio and El Paso are great. El Paso is desert southwest while Houston is bayou country. San Antonio is beautiful, but Houston sucked and I hated Dallas. My opinion of the state is as varied as its populated areas. That said, I miss this woman:

From what I see, a lot of the area south of austin was able to keep their ways because to a large extent, they were isolated. With I-35 being built up with all the cookie cutter malls, the ability to keep that isolated is disappearing

All it takes is one person to visit a larger city and bring it back to their rural homes, problem is they don't have the same medical facilities as the larger cities which means they end up in s crowded big city hospital or they go home and take their chances. Not Good.

Why, Texas has been traditionally a Blue State, Conservative Democrats but still Blue. It has been getting more and Blue again for years now and will eventually shift back to Blue.

Pence is a Trump bootlicker who backs up and repeats every crazy message this boss spews. Why? He doesn’t want to be ousted as the VP candidate. He’s willing to say crazy shid for self serving reasons.

Texas hasn’t voted for a Democrat since Clinton. It is getting bluer as Hispanics increase voting.

Yes, yes it will. Sadly our trumplings don't seem to see the train coming, warning them does no good so .....Meh

The members of Jonestown were warned too. By their families. By the government. By the authorities. And yet they refused to acknowledge it. Cults, they are very powerful and mystifying things.

I find it amusing and frustrating that so many people today assume "liberals" and "progressives" to be folks who condone irresponsibility, support free handouts,
hold a lack of respect for traditions, and exhibit a wishy-washy, weak-kneed attitude toward threatening enemy.
In actuality, true liberals and progressives support positive change, improvements to the human condition, and forward thinking in our institutions.

Somehow, between 1972 and 2015 while I was a dedicated workaholic, I missed the total reinterpretation of those terms.
If it were not for "progressive" thinkers, we would still be riding in horse-drawn carriages, relying on leeches for medical treatment, and sending communications by carrier pigeons.
And if I'm not mistaken, liberals were the driving forces behind the American colonies breaking away from Britain, forcing an end to slavery in the US and ending America's wrong-headed
Vietnam War. These were positive steps forward. And they were gained by people of principal who willingly fought for change.

Today, it is up to "liberals" and "progressives" to shout down those who wish to maintain lingering aspects of racial inequality and injustice that still haunt our nation.

Still don't get it do you? The states control when they reopen and that means governors and mayors. Your big gov't global idea of a massive central gov't is on full display. Trump and Pence are subject to the same rights you have, freedom of speech and freedom to make comments that you don't agree with and may be accurate or inaccurate. It doesn't appear that many on the left here understand or even have read our Constitution.

It is so sad that the best the left has to offer is placing blame and politics of personal destruction. The radical left looks at the growth in the CV without context, TX for example has had a spike but still a 2.2% death rate and with 30 million people still ranks below NY, NY, Ill, California in the number of infections and number of deaths. Cherry picking data and gloom and doom is what the left always does ignoring context

6/16/2020 Cases Deaths

United States 2115994 117126 5.5%

Texas 87854 1976 2.2%

New York 384000 24579 6.4%

New Jersey 167000 12676 7.6%

Illinois 134185 6507 4.8%

California 157015 5208 3.3%

I find it pointless to stand in the way of lemmings rushing over a cliff they just ignore you. November is going to be hard for them, reality usually is harsh when you spend your time living in a alternate.universe.
