A Russian company has been heavily criticised for offering female employees cash bonuses to wear skirts or dresses to work.Tatprof, an aluminium manufacturer, is running a "femininity marathon" campaign until 30 June.
Female staff who wear a dress or skirt "no longer than five centimetres from the knee" are paid 100 roubles ($1.50, £1.19) on top of their regular wages.
In order to receive the bonus, women must send the company a picture. Link.

[sarcasm] Nothing sexist about this at all... nothing wrong with dressing up in ways to please the male staff and help their day go by.[/sarcasm]

Nothing subtle about that sexism. But then again, Russians generally aren't subtle people.

How much for them to work in the buff?

My limited experience is that Russia doesn't see sexism as a problem (yet.)

I'm basing this on the "Stop a Douchebag" movement, where young Russian activists physically prevent people from driving and parking on the sidewalks over there, which is a widespread problem. Wonderful movement, and at times their YouTube videos are very entertaining.

These kids are just as hipster-ish as many youngsters here in the U.S., generally very politically correct and respectful, but they are quick to pull out the machismo card, asking men who argue with them if they are "real men," speculating on who would win in a fight, pointing to a man's "duty" to defend women and children, etc. It's jarring to see, since they are otherwise very nice, young progressive types, and they have female members who go right along with all this.

I think it's just cultural. Women haven't had as much success over there on the equality front, and these guys were raised thinking of traditional gender roles where most of us have had that replaced with equality notions that flag such talk as inappropriate. I expect eventually they will go through the same process we have and reach that stage on their own, but until then we'll see incidents like this.

Maybe I am a Neanderthal but, I dont see the problem. The women are making extra to wear the shirt or the dress.

Do they get an additional bonus for every centimeter LESS than that?

Total sexism... against men. They are not offering men the same compensation and that is 100% sexist. ****ing Russians...

Pay me enough money and I'll wear a skirt.

The machismo problem is probably going to break those youngster’s ability to be more empathetic. Course im just speculating.

They weren't subtle about masculinizing their women for the Olympics either.
I'm sure these guys will eat this up like candy here in Murrikuh...

Wouldn't you ladies love to "brighten their day a little"?

Not a bad thing if you want militaristic men, and have an expansionist foreign policy.

Sexist policies are okay, so long as you compensate people? $1.50 for that picture sent to your boss, so he can jerk off to it.

Don't see anything wrong with that?

They dont have to. If somebody paid me enough I would wear a thong to work. Of course they may try to rip their eyes out afterwards trying to unsee that which cant be.

I think most women would prefer to earn extra without removing clothes for male gratification. In a strip bar it's OK but women who work their way into engineering companies have had to overcome all sorts of sexism just to be faced with this.

Don’t you worry your pretty little head about it darling, just leave the difficult questions to us real men.

Russia needs a bigger population.

Badly.

So attractively dressed young ladies may entice Russian lads to do their patriotic duty and get married in order to procreate.

What's wrong with that?

It's already an overpopulated planet and why do Russians need a larger number of Russians on the planet anyway?

I read a few years ago that the Russian government was paying couples to have more children.

I do not know whether it is still government policy to do so.

As to why the Russian government wants more people, that's a hot potato that I do not dare touch.

Russia has a negative population-growth demographic. Healthcare is terrible. Wealthy and educated Russians are migrating in record numbers.

Russians have a high death rate, a low birth rate, a high rate of abortions, and a low level of immigration.

Rather than allowing the poor treatment of Russian women - they would be better making Russia more welcoming to external visitors and doing something about why Russians have a high death rate. Making a place more pleasant doesn't mean making your intelligent women behave as if they are staff at Hooters, give them self worth and better living conditions for a start.

Couples get paid by the government in Canada to have more children, something like $500 per month per kid for low-income families. Doesn't the US pay an equivalent to our child benefit?
