I found this guy’s YouTube channel via Reddit, and I have to say it’s been extremely interesting. He’s filmed under intense combat conditions in Eastern Ukraine with Russian, Ukrainian separatist, and Chechen soldiers. He has to toe the line politically to maintain access, avoiding commentary that could inflame his hosts, but he deserves a lot of credit for literally putting his life on the line to bring the world an unfiltered view of the war. IMHO, he deserves a Peabody Award for this coverage.

One of the things I noticed is the Russians in the top video are using a sound-powered phone and not a radio. One can only speculate as to why they’re doing this in the 21st Century, but I assume it’s because they’ve figured out the Ukrainians were intercepting their radio transmissions. Next thing you know they’ll be using message couriers like their great-grandfathers did in WWI.
