McConnell and the Republicans Cave.....people on the Right are now left with no recourse but to go after the MS Media non stop. Make them report on the Demos filibustering. Force them to do what they don't like. Even if it means destroying their livelihood and their lives in this country. There was no reason to cave in to the Democrats. As a matter of fact McConnell should have upped the game. He should have called up votes everyday. Putting Demos Names out there.....besides Reid.

Moreover the Repubs can prove that the Demos were lying the whole time. Which really Reid should be called out as a Liar before the American People. Every single day for the next month. As the Liar can't extract himself from his lie. Should McConnell be recalled? What say ye?

Senate Democrats filibustered the introduction of the House-passed legislation on four separate occasions, preventing it from being debated or amended. Several of these Democrats had previously feigned concern over the president's power grab, yet they unanimously filibustered DHS funding to protect it. With a partial agency shutdown (the vast majority of DHS employees and services would be unaffected) just a few days away, Democrats refused to even consider any measure that didn't give them exactly what they wanted: A "clean" funding bill that stripped out any opportunity for Republicans to use their power-of-the-purse leverage -- bestowed on them by voters -- to defeat Obama's amnesty fiat, which the electorate also rejected. And true to form, fractured Republicans caved, rewarding Democrats' dishonest intransigence:

Perhaps most egregious of all, Senate Republicans somehow timed their cave job to align perfectly with President Obama's Keystone veto -- the ludicrous rationale for which is truly jaw-dropping in its audacity. Here we had a president openly exposing his rhetoric about pragmatism and unity as an utter fraud, serving up a wet kiss to wealthy special interests (offering another chance to highlight his hypocrisy). He nixed a massively popular, job creating infrastructure project that garnered 332 bipartisan votes in Congress -- and would cost taxpayers zero dollars. This veto was nothing less a sharp stick in the eye of bipartisanship, job creation, "middle class economics," and all the ideals and platitudes Obama loves to spout. And on that day, of all days, Republicans decided it was time to back down and free Obama and Democrats from their self-made shutdown/amnesty trap......snip~

Oh, did you mistake singling out who filibusters as crying? Yeah that's what I thought.....a wrong concept and thought from the start. The lefts usual failings.

But Lie to us some more Jerry/Democrats.....tell us how the Country wont be safe? :lamo

Democrats sound the alarm about an unsafe America if Homeland Security isn't fully funded by Friday night.

"It will impede effective things that the Department of Homeland Security needs to do to keep America secure," Democrat Steny Hoyer said earlier this month about the funding fight. "A CR would not be a way that responsibly this ought to be handled. The Republicans, if they make such a deal, it will be a very cynical deal which undermines the security of America."

Despite the hysterical rhetoric, the Department of Homeland Security is not shutting down and America won't be less safe if Republicans and Democrats don't get a deal at the end of the week. And no, there will be no "undermining of the security of America," because essential Homeland Security operations will continue to function......snip~

What did you expect? This was a failed strategy from the get-go. You are not going to get Obama to roll back his prosecutional discretion actions by holding hostage the funding for an agency that was created to protect the American people form terrorism. Once again, the Cons paint themselves into a corner. What were they thinking?

Now, I expect the Republican congress to actually govern... but I suppose I am delusional as well. But, if the Cons were smart, they would take the ball and pass meaningful legislation starting with an immigration reform bill and stop this grandstanding which will take them no where.

The Cons set a record for filibusters. You can make a credible equivalence argument when the Dems begin to threaten that record. Not until.

Well to be honest.....Boehner and the House are standing still standing on the bill they sent. So let McConnell go down with McCain and Graham with their Support for BO and falling for the Okie Doke.

Its not like Johnny Quest McCain is one of the brightest bulbs out there anyways.

They are going to double down on their foolishness. The Cons are not going win this. They should cut their losses.

Why there is nothing to lose.....all essential personnel wont be laid off. After it all takes place.....then the MS media will report what took place. Then BO and his Team will look like fools to the nation and the rest of the World.

Guess McConnell wants to prevent that from happening.

Precisely, but I don't think you'll get any one from the right here to agree.

How many pieces of legislation were filibustered, exactly?

McConnell promised there would be no shutdown. It's refreshing to see a politician actually try to keep a promise.

Well, we know at least 4 times with just this one bill. But really I didn't want to look up all the ones they did under Bush Jr.

Well he would be Right either way.....but he forgot that part, when tucking tail.

I was asking how many GOP filibusters on legislation there were that constituted the record.

Actually, they have every thing to lose. The most likely outcome is they will have to back down and look like the usual set of Republican games with nothing of substance as outcome. Next most likely, they shut down the DHS as a) something happens, and they get blamed or b) they end up backing down and get blamed for putting the country at risk. The least likely outcome, they actually achieve their goal and get some of the blame of gamesmanship AND kiss off the hispanic vote and the White House for a generation.

They will be blamed because they put a poison pill into a funding bill of a critical agency. This has never worked for them in the past, why is it going to work now. McConnell actually did the smart thing by splitting it into two bills. That is a reasonable approach, which now, unfortunately for the idiots in the house, further paints them into a corner.

If the Cons were smart, they would take up the immigration bill right now and Obama will let go of the executive actions. Then they could actually look like adults.

The Cons are going to lose the Senate in 2016. The only chance they have to keep it is if they can behave like adults and actually do some work (get real, substantive legislation passed and approved).

if it weren't for double standards, partisans wouldn't have any standards at all.

There is nothing inherently wrong with the filibuster; its the abuse of the filibuster that is problematic. The Cons abused the filibuster; the Dems have no such record of that, yet.

Yeah, we see how all that blame for the shutdown worked last time.....just hurt the Repubs so bad in the Mid Term. They only came up with Historic Victories.

I can see why some are saying.....Please hurt me.

Btw the Repubs are working on legislation for an Immigration Bill and with Demos too.

It did hurt the Republicans very badly. Right afterwards the polls should the house would flip had the elections been held. The only thing that saved the Cons was the ACA roll-out, which took the shennigans of September off the burner.

The Cons did well in 2014 because the wind was at their back. Those same winds shift in favor of the Dems in 2016. If the Cons want to hold the Senate, they have to EARN the vote. This is a step backwards for them (which is why McConnel is being the adult in the room as its the Senate at stake in 2016.... the House is fortified)

That is their ticket out of this mess. My questions is: is the Republican immigration bill on the docket before or after the Republican health care bill?

Those winds don't shift like they did for the Repubs. BO and his policies are the gift that keeps on giving. The Democrats are down to controlling only 7 states. The Repubs hold 66 out 99 state legislatures and 33 States.

Take a look at what happened in Chicago for a Democrats bastion of strength. For the first time in the History of Chicago Democrats. A Democrat couldn't win 50% of the vote and plus one.

Only 33% came out to the vote.....and now the Demos have a Black vs Latino Problem. All leading up to 2016. ;)

One man can fix this whole thing. All Obama needs to do is rescind his EO and funding goes through. Easy peasy.

They are politicians, Thrilla, and they are working on the next election, hoping to keep the well paying and cozy jobs. C'mon, where else do you find benefits packages such as theirs, not to mention voting for their own raises?
I would like to be a fly on the wall to see what is really going behind the scenes, but I suppose all the mutually beneficial deals and satisfied grunts would just make me ill.
