Palin worse than feared by the left

Sarah Palin has come off as less than sharp. But, to be fair, Biden, Bush, and Obama all have said completely retarded things that made them look foolish. They didn't take nearly the amount of **** Palin takes.

Part of that almost has to be because Palin is a woman. She also has that really annoying voice and accent that makes her sound dumber 'cause we're not use to hearing it.

Now this stuff about her may or may not be true. Maybe she really is dumb as dog****. But it could be that she just got way more crap than others did for her screw ups.

It does sound unforgivable to not know Africa is a continent. However if that's true it's equally unforgivable to not correctly state how many states there are in the US, which Obama did, and nobody gave a crap.

Furthermore while all these staffers are supposedly talking they are doing so anonymously. That's bull****. Before you get to tear someone apart you should have to show your face. I think it's rather indecent of the news to even talk about what secret secret unknown unwilling to put their own face to their comments staffers are saying. Crap journalism. I'm not really overly invested in defending Palin. But I do think that report was lame.

Oh brother, tallollou. We all say stupid things from time to time and we can be asked questions where we just go blank on an answer. However, based upon the things that Palin was saying when being interviewed and during the debate, she did not show a genuine intellectual mind. Sure, part of that could have been nervousness, but that cannot explain her entire interview with Katie Couric.

Sexist? I remember ALL the jokes people would make about Dan Quayle. Wow. That man was hammered by the media. John Edwards was hammered over his looking at himself in the mirror and fixing his hair. John Kerry was hammed over having Botox injections. Clinton was hammered for his $400 haircut. So this sexist allegation is a load of crap.

Yeah, and Obama getting the number of states wrong was just so indicative of his intellect. Sorry, honey, the man exudes a level of intelligence that most people don't have. Oh, and please check out this seach on Google and the number of hits. obama 57 states - Google Search Yeah, no one gave him a hard time about it.

That's completely different.

The originally video posted in this thread can be summarized as such:

"Sarah is a dumbass."

"How do you know?"

"Oh folks are saying it. Staffers who worked with her. For sure she's dumb as dog ****."

Now if the supposed people who are saying it can't put their face to it then maybe it's not worth saying, you know? It's ridiculous to put someone in the position of having to defend themselves against comments like, "I know you're stupid," when the person has no idea who the comments are even coming from.

There was nothing "newsworthy" about that story.

Yeah, that's why it was on FNC.

I still think it makes the staff, as a whole, look dumber than her because they were supporting this supposed idiot.

Sorry honey? Seriously aps?

Look I don't like Palin either. I myself thought she sounded like an idiot every time she opened her mouth. But I know part of that was her accent and the tone of her voice. Like nails on a chalkboard. She also does seem to talk in a "dumbed down" manner with all her reliance on Joe Six Pack and what not.

But still, it doesn't seem fair to do journalism pieces where she is anonymously accused -without any shred of proof- of not knowing Africa is a continent.

Is that journalism? I don't think it is. So even if it's true if the source wasn't willing to come forward as the supposed witness to such stupidity then perhaps it's best left unreported. It's not important and it's not verifiable. Just seemed unfair to me.

As for Obama he's a gifted orator. He definitely sounds smarter than most politicians. However there's nothing particularly genius or substantive in what he says. His speeches sound good but many of them are just a combination of crescendo, black preacher, and platitudes. There's a heavy reliance on faith, believing, change all of which are "empty" really.

Now I'm not disagreeing with the idea that there's genius in that craft. But it's not necessarily the best type of genius for a President. I know Obama can entertain a crowd, write a book, rile up peoples emotions but I have no idea if he can run this country.

I did vote for him though. Only because McCain and Palin offered me nothing and Obama offered a brighter future for black people. Yes we can was an apt mantra.

But I think the question was, "Can we elect a black man? Have we progressed that far yet?"

And who didn't want to answer, "yes," to that question?

But now what?

Time will tell.

Watch Obama's "57 states" comment in context:

YouTube - Obama Claims He's Visited 57 States

He was obviously tired and made a slip of the tongue, saying, we have visited 57? states, instead of 47. The two mistakes are not equal, and Obama's mistake was certainly a forgivable one.

A slip, a gaffe, versus lack of knowledge. To suggest that Obama doesn't know there are 50 states would be beyond silly.

Yeah obviously he was.

But what was the context in which Palin slipped on Africa? We don't know. It's not stated. Maybe she was tired too, you know?

I can't believe you actually said the two mistakes aren't equal!!!

Yeah they're not because we don't even know if Palin's mistake actually happened. We have no idea of the context behind it. We have no idea how tired she was, how it was said, who it was said to, etc.

You people are incredible.

Palin must have really been a threat for lefty's and moderate republicans to continue dump on her after the election....

Right, even when we all heard him say it!

But it's not silly to believe that Palin couldn't name all the continents. That, if asked, she wouldn't know Africa was a continent???

It's not silly to believe that? Even in light of the fact that no person, no witness was willing to put their name to the claim? No video. No evidence whatsoever that she actually even made that mistake.

Palin is the goddamn governor of Alaska for christ sake. Excuse me if I tend towards believing she could name the continents if she wasn't tired.

This is the new "bi-partisan" tone of the left.

Yes we can! Change and hope is awesome!

Nobody is dumping anything. Fox News reported these stories because they are just now coming out from the McCain campaign. I don't think she was a threat, I just find it interesting.

Shepherd smith is a liberal and has been suckin up to the obama camp since tuesday... Did you see his nader interview?

And I'm just pissed that the media sits on information until the election is over. There's nothing good about that

Yes, I did and he rightfully called Nader on referring to Obama as "Uncle Tom". Regardless, this stuff isn't just coming from Fox, but from Newsweek as well. The McCain campaign people are releasing this information now because they didn't give clearance to do so before and it would have been even more damaging to their campaign. Perhaps they are bitter about certain things, but I personally find it interesting.

Did you watch the Couric interview? How do you explain her deer-in-the-headlights-stare when asked, "What newspapers do you read?" I mean, do you even know another human being on the face of the earth who would react that way to that question?

What about her non answer to Couric's question re: that lobbyist still getting a check while working for McCain? She actually repeated, word for word, her previous non answer!

It didn't take her 6 years to get a 4 year degree because she was busy with... foreign affairs. :doh

Not all of them did. CNN was releasing some fairly vague details about tensions in the McCain Campaign with Palin.

I think McCain was well liked prior to this whole election. He was very respected. Despite all that his campaign sucked ass. It sucked up one side and down the other. Fox news and the rest of the Republicans are looking for someone to blame and everyone likes McCain too much to blame him. They feel bad for him. He's old. He's a war hero. Whatever. So they attack Palin.

It's one thing when they give her a harder time than they are giving others despite similar goof ups.

It's a whole other can of worms when they start saying anonymous people claim she is so dumb she said so and so. No nameable witness, nothing verified, just a non-credible attack launched on her from nowhere. That's not journalism

I personally can't believe that she refused preparation before the interview.

I still have tremendous respect for McCain. He's a great guy, though a bit of a hot head..but I think that's just because he's passionate about the issues. The only thing that I didn't like was when he chose Palin. I thought that was a huge mistake on his part, because it was so obviously a political strategy and it blew up in their face even more when they found out what she was like.

Look she does sound dumb. I've said that. I don't like her. I don't like defending her.

But in this case, with this thread, there was a journalism report where Palin is accused of something for which there is no proof by someone who is never named. That's bad journalism no matter which side of the fence you're own.

That's all I'm saying.

I personally can't believe that she refused preparation before the interview.

And she wanted to give her own farewell speech! :doh Finally, McCain's top aides said "No!".

I just read that she had agreed to that phone call from Sarkozy, and never mentioned it to anyone in the campaign! It should be interesting to see if any other Repub is stupid enough to let her hitch her wagon to theirs.

I personally can't believe that she refused preparation before the interview.

And all I'm trying to point out is perhaps you shouldn't believe it. It does sound rather absurd, doesn't it?

And again it's asserted by "an anonymous staffer" without any proof, evidence, and no witnesses who are willing to verify it.

Bad journalism.

Yes, but they admitted that it was an anonymous staffer. I don't think that they were making this stuff up. I can understand why the staffer would wish to remain anonymous.

I dont' think her accent sounds dumb at all. Look at Elizabeth Dole. While she has a southern accent, you can tell she's a smart lady. The basis of my thinking she's not very smart is in the content of her words.

So you're saying that the content in Obama's words during all 3 debates with McCain and ALL the debates he had when he was running the Democratic primary had no substance to it or genius? Let me ask you this--did you think the same thing about McCain? What public person has shown genuis and/or substance in your eyes?

Frankly, I am surprised that anyone who has heard Obama speak (not during a prepared speech but interviews, debates, and what not) would not think he is a very, very intelligent person. This isn't about being inspirational or politically savvy--this is about just pure intellect.

I am interested to see how he runs this country. I hope he reaches across the aisle. I believe that was a huge part of Clinton's success.

Your beef with the Palin thing is the fact that the source is anonymous as to the Africa thing? Yeah, that seems like a cheap shot. Unfortunately, cheap shots "sell." People love that kind of stuff. So people report it.

I think there are different types of intellect, different types of genius.

Obama is clearly socially gifted. He's adept at reading people, understanding them, and communicating with them.

However many other intellects are damn near socially retarded.

I think Obama is smart. I think he has gifts. However he does overly rely on platitudes. His speeches do get preachy sounding and he does get away with an over-reliance on words such as "hope," "faith," and "change." Those things play well to crowds.

As for his genius when it comes to knowing the right thing to do, the right direction to go in, the right path forward I have no idea at all if Obama is gifted. Only time will tell.

It will be interesting to see what happens to his speeches now that he isn't trying to get elected. A lot of the preachiness and warm fuzzy diction that is at home on the campaign trail is just off the mark for the White House. On the other hand, maybe that's just Obama. Only time will tell
