Bribing votes with other peoples money, the progressive way.President Obama, flexing his executive authority once again, plans to order the Labor Department to expand overtime pay requirements to include millions more workers -- in a move likely to rankle the business community.
The president plans to make the announcement on Thursday at the White House, a senior administration official confirmed to Fox News. Though the administration has claimed previous executive actions had bipartisan support, officials are acknowledging that this particular move will anger business groups and congressional Republicans.

Expecting to be paid for your work? How terrible. Obviously, your employer should have the right to own you. I mean, who wants to work harder and longer to make more money?
(FYI, you only get OT if you already have a job.)
Yes cause up until now, youve been owned qnd abused by your employer! Thank goodness that king obama is here to set us free!
Btw emotionally driver drivel like yours misses the point but I guess its easier then a coherant argument

Well, frankly, I think something should be done. Companies too often pay salaries and then expect sixty hours a week with no comp time. Just exactly how fair is that?
Folks, I think we're just going to have to get used to paying more for things. Workers need some help to assure their fair treatment. It's time we all realized that.
I was offered a managerial job ten-plus years ago. The offer letter came to me with a salary promise, description of benefits, and a caveat that I would be expected to work sixty hours a week. So, I'll ask again: Just exactly how fair is that?

"There’s no such thing as a free lunch," Cato Institute senior fellow Daniel Mitchell told The Times. "If they push through something to make a certain class of workers more expensive, something will happen to adjust."

You forced to work for those wages or conditions? No jyst wait for government to fix it for ya! Gotta hand it to the king, doesnt matter the negative real world damage he's doing, it feels good to emotionally vulnerable helpless folks who cant function unless government makes it FAIR.

I just saw the episode of "Between The Ferns" interview with Obama and I ask does he possess any sense of dignity for the office? As the first and probably last black president he has all but trashed the position through violations of the constitution and behavior more suited to a 15 year old pot head.
, but they don't want to do the work required to get it.
Mr. Vicchio, I've been an entrepreneur my whole life. I didn't take that job, by the way.
What is government good for if not to even the playing field? Would you do away with the minimum wage? Go back to "We don't hire blacks"? "Women need not apply"? No overtime for anyone? Let employers give themselves perks while excluding their workers because they can? Depend on the largess of employers to see the light? It didn't work before, and it won't work now.
Go work at a factory in India and tell me how well it works when employers are left to their own devices. Is that really the kind of country you want to live in? Really??
Now surely there are degrees of interference. But making sure that companies don't skirt overtime requirements simply by putting someone on salary and telling them they're stupidvisors doesn't seem too much interference to me.
This isnt evening anything. Its forcing businesses to increase costs for "social justice" not business needs. This makes all ready jittery businesses morre afraid. Business thrives when conditions are stable. This is another destabilizing diktate. You are drawn to the emotional arguememt of "fairness" and ypu dont give a damn if everyone has to pay more, you dont gibe a damn if opportunity is lost to others you see "fairness" and personal short term gain. That sort of short sighted, selfish emotionally driven thinking is why this country is 17 trillion in debt.
My company saw this coming a year ago. People on my team used to be exempt analysts. But the company was so afraid of being sued by Obama/NLRB, that they changed any borderline exmpt positions to non-exempt. My whole team hates it, as we far preferred being exempted.

Straight to hyperbole in post #2!
I like being salaried because it gives me more flexibility in scheduling my time. I normally work 40-45 hours a week and am certainly not "owned". I've worked a number of salaried jobs in the last 20 years and was never required to work an exorbitant number of hours.
