O'Rourke tells Abbott: "this is on YOU."

Recognizing the dangers a car and driver may present to public safety we enact lots and lots of laws around ownership and licensing of a motor vehicle.
It's not enough though. People are still dying. We should ban them. Bicycles are much safer.

Never mind. I see you hightailed it outa here all the way to Israel. lol
??? I'm from texas. You must be talking about my VPN. kinda creepy you pay attention to that, if you ask me.

it is yes, but we are talking about drunk driving, we are talking mass gun violence here. Don't deflect.
No deflection, it goes directly to the absurdity of your proposed solution.

10,000 people a year are killed from drunk driving. 100 from mass shootings.

The stunt where he got ejected from the news conference.

He exploited the killing of 21 people to forward his political career. Independents will remember Beto's stunt when they go to the polls to vote for governeor.

Not at all. Enough with the thoughts and prayers. The community does not need any more of Abbot's "love".

I disagree on that, however, Francis could have given the same message through his massive social media presence, at any of his rallies for governor, on television, and in print. He has a massive ability to get a public message out there.

He chose to interrupt a Press Conference as a campaign stunt. This isn't about gun violence - it's about getting everyone to talk about him.

No. Doing the Wrong Thing is doing the wrong thing, even when you really super duper dislike your opponents and think they are bad.

Francis has a massive platform to confront and protest anything he likes (including, I guess, his own precious positions). It is wrong, however, to crash a press conference and act like a jackass as a campaign stunt to use the death of children to garner attention for ones self.

What he did here was immature, crass, and narcissistic. It's the kind of thing Trump would have loved, and, I can't really think of a more apt summation or critique.

Okay, so based on your wishy washy responses to my questions, I'm just going to assume that you're a big 2a guy, and that's why you disapprove of O'Rourke confronting the governor over refusing to do anything about gun violence.

Then you assume incorrectly. I have stated for you repeatedly why I disapprove of what Francis did, and, it does not have to do with the second amendment at all.

Critiques of those who defended Trump but criticize others' immaturity and narcissism ring rightfully hollow. So do the critiques of Trump by those who defend similar actions by people they agree with.

Now, of course, this is where you accuse me of the same because of my position on the issue. And the difference between you and me is that I have the moral and factual argument, and you don't.

No, you are confusing your motivation for mine. Your position may be that whether someone's deeds are worth defending is dependent on whether or not they are in your Tribe. My position - which I have laid out for you repeatedly - is that agreement with someone on policy does not excuse their misbehavior in it's pursuit. The relevant question is not "is this person in my tribe", but "is pulling an immature and narcissistic campaign stunt to try to make a tragedy all about you a morally acceptable thing to do, or not".

Beto O'Rourke had a right to speak his mind, but he chose the wrong place and time to do it. He should have spoken outside the auditorium - he should NOT have interrupted the conference while it was in session.

He will get tremendous backlash for this political stunt.

Beto really shot himself in the foot on this one (pun intended)
The blood is on Abbott. The verbal outrage on Beto.

Gee, who is worse?

Beto is gonna run on the issue. And there isn't a damn thing Abbott can do about it
From a pure realpolitik perspective, I'm sure Abbot is absolutely fine if he does that.

Running on gun control in Texas in like running on reversing Obergerfell in California. You can do it, but you'll lose.

He's doing it. And Abbott can pound sand

Here's some logic for you. One failed shoe bomber. We're still taking our shoes off at the airport
That's a great example of an overreaction by the government and what it can lead too. I would argue that the entire Himeland Security Dept is a result of overreacting and a rush for a solution. Not necessarily a good solution but any one.

Airlines didn't want the liability, the just in case. And they have a lobby. Where there is money, there is a way
