Opinion: Democrats Keep Falling for Political Fantasies. When Will They Learn?

Trump is a rapist. People with good morals have to have an internal struggle to rationalize supporting a rapist. That is one of the reasons maga is always so mad. They are ashamed of themselves, but won't admit it. When people are in denial of something, and someone else brings it up, it makes the person who is in denial angry because they are really angry at themselves. But they don't admit that, so the anger is redirected at whomever brought up the thing which is being denied.
So was Bill Clinton. But that didn’t stop Democrats from supporting and defending him. Hell, Democrats (like the Clintons) befriended Trump and took his money until he ran for president as a Republican.

“Democrats Keep Falling for Political Fantasies. When Will They Learn?”

Never. Believing in fantasies as opposed to reality is a crucial part of being a Leftist.

Then thee is reality.

A sure sign of an autocrat is murder!

Trump has murdered 37 people because he thinks they are drug runners.

Republicans, who are responsible for Trump, say nothing. That includes Republican leaders in Congress.

In addition, Trump is creating chaos in some of our major cities in his search for illegal immigrants.

Trump on Thursday insisted that he could continue to murder alleged drug traffickers abroad without Congress first passing an official declaration of war.

Even if they were drug. traffickers, the death penalty does not apply

Trump will kill them anyway, he says, while Republicans in Congress continue their silence!

No, collectivism is a social disaster. The evidence is written in the history of every country that has practiced it.

Now there’s a collective!

If you think about it, that pile of human skulls represents Marxism’s highest ideal.

Amen. No more small moves for fear Republicans won't join in and co-sign. It's time to work on completely taking over the government and going straight FDR.
So, you are not really against authoritarianism or kings as long as they are your authoritarians and kings.

OK, so what you're putting forth here is that 'Democrats did the wrong thing in supporting Clinton because he was a rapist,' but since Democrats did that, it somehow makes it OK for Republicans to now support Trump even if he is a child rapist?

So once a crime has been committed by any person it then becomes no longer a crime? And anyone else can do the same thing and claim it's OK now because somebody else already did it before?

Why would that not lead to a complete breakdown of the US Justice system?

Most acts which are illegal have already been done in the past. Does that now make all crimes OK to commit from her on and going forth?

Why should anyone ever be arrested, tried and adjudicated ever again?

All they have to do is say: "Well, so and so did it first!"

And there you go. Off the hook. Instant get out of justice free card.

Because everybody knows that wrong is wrong and right is right but two wrongs make a right.

No one under the age of 47 voted for Bill Clinton….the 90’s was generations ago

Not relevant to today.

trump is murdering innocent people and taking insurance away from MAGAs and spending gobs of $$$$$$ on himself so we should expect more threads like this.

Only part I disagree with is the comparison to John Fetterman. I don't think he was a republican masquerading as a democrat. I think he had a stroke which essentially altered his personality.

Don't know what lessons you can draw from that.

Hes basically describing what the GOP is doing now. 🤔

So being a rapist shouldn't disqualify one from office?

It's true that Democrats are not going to win another election in this country until they learn to be more openly and proudly racist and anti-science. This country has moved on, and these Dems are still hanging on to this romantic, idealized notion that America is some enlightened, pluralistic, tolerant society, LOL.

I've read the article and I'm still confused what "political fantasies" the author is talking about. He seems to argue there is a trend in which Dems lose elections by choosing fad outsider candidates rather than establishment picks. But there is not a single "charismatic newcomer" or "viral candidate" name-dropped in the article that has actually "cost [the Dems an] election." The article focuses on Platner, who may not even win his primary, let alone cost Dems an election. Mamdani is about to win in NYC. And Amy McGrath, Beto O'Rourke, and Stacey Abrams were each about as competitive as it gets in their respective states. There is not a single "insider" or established candidated named in the article as a better choice in any of these races. So it reads like a bunch of BS to me.
I'll just add to that. Democrats have been winning the majority of the special elections. The fact is, without all the proposed illegal gerrymandering, democrats can expect a blue tsunami. If this wasn't true, Trump wouldn't be ordering red states to cheat.

TRUMP IS EPSTEIN'S BEST FRIEND!!!!!!!!
HUNTER BIDEN WAS A LEGITIMATE PARTNER WITH UKRAINE!!! IT WASN'T DARK MONEY!!!
IRAN IS NOT THE PROBLEM!! HAMAS IS NOT THE PROBLEM!! IT IS ISRAEL!!! AAAUUUUUGH!!!!!!!
KAMALA HARRIS WOULD MAKE A GREAT PRESIDENT!!!!!!!!!
Wow, for once I agree with a MAGA. We're making progress.

So, you are not really against authoritarianism or kings as long as they are your authoritarians and kings.
Incorrect. What I'm advocating for is for Democrats to actually use their collective power to give the people what they're asking for instead of tiptoeing around Republicans who've been nothing but obstructionist for most of my lifetime. How long has the public been asking for universal healthcare? How long have the people been asking for the swamp to be drained? How long have people been asking for voting to be made easier (with shorter lines)? And more recently, have people long been saying 'tax the rich'? No more wars? Stronger safety nets? Clean water? Healthy food options? Better education? etc.

Trump has been doing the exact opposite of what the people want. It's time the Democrats get off their asses and get to work on what WE the people want.
