They are chosen by the people. So the people control the ballot. If you dont like that party label shows up on the ballot, then convince people to remove them.

Its more complicated that that. The legislature exercises a great control of the ballot and the people have some control of who goes on the ballot. And the parties themselves play a role in the ballot.

Its not more complex than that. The people choose the legislature. Convince people to change the legislature. Thats what the parties do. They convince people to support them.
