How long did those people know we were planning to get out? Why didn't they use all of that time to make arrangements to get out? The answer, for the vast majority (yes, there were some who DID get screwed, but they were an extremely small minority), is that leaving meant giving up that government contract money. Cry me a river that money overrode their sense of safety until the rubber met the road.

The Afghanistan pullout was a military operation to end America's longest war. Despite the Afghan army's immediate surrender, we suffered only thirteen casualties.

By any measure that is a military success.

The list of people and countries who have bungled things in Afghanistan is long. Biden is part of a not-so-proud tradition. No wonder that Afghanistan is called “the graveyard of empires.” Read about the British retreat from Kabul. Then there were Persians, Greeks, Arabs and Russians.

I hope the GOP, fair and balanced as they are, will look into Trump’s similarly troubling withdrawal from Syria.

There are things I don't like about Trump, but as far as a President, he was good for me, our economy, and our country in bringing peace. I do hold all to it. I've said throw away the documents issues with Trump now that it's very apparent that document retention is a thing among presidents. I know Trump had ill will in doing it but forget about it now, or prosecute them all.

You do, of course, realize that if what you say is true, it means that even before Biden took office, Trump made the agreement to be out in April against the suggestions of the Pentagon too, right? There is no possible way to both leave as he agreed to AND keep the base open.

It's like you guys simply don't have the ability to think in more than a linear fashion.
