Joe Biden has reiterated his support for Juneteenth as a federal holiday, after President Donald Trump said America had "too many" of them. "Too many non-working holidays in America," Trump wrote on Truth Social late Thursday. "It is costing our Country $BILLIONS OF DOLLARS to keep all of these businesses closed." The president said that the frequency of holidays "must change" and that workers didn't want them. "The workers don't want it either!" he continued. "Soon we'll end up having a holiday for every once working day of the year. It must change if we are going to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"

Juneteenth, held on June 19 every year, commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and has long been celebrated by Black Americans. It became the 11th federal holiday in 2021 with a law signed by then-President Joe Biden. The bill passed with broad bipartisan support, receiving unanimous approval in the Senate and all but 14 votes in the House of Representatives.

That dumbass is the one who recommended making it a Federal holiday.
Later in 2020, Trump sought to woo Black voters with a series of campaign promises, including establishing Juneteenth as a federal holiday.

Joe signed it into law in 2020 because Trump lost the election.

Only the public sector gets this Juneteenth day off. Most of the private sector keeps right on working.

Is that why he just wanted to create a new one a few weeks ago? (Granted it isn’t a paid federal holiday at this point…but 🤷‍♀️ who knows anymore with this guy)

The obsession with work in this country is nuts.

Businesses are working every day of the year, zero exceptions. What's your point?

Also, give it a few years. I know we were short staffed yesterday. HR moves in it's own time, but they do move.

Typical Trump, racist undertones.

In other shocking news today, gravity still works.

Business Insider

Article title is a lie.

Juneteenth as a federal holiday was overwhelmingly passed by both houses of Congress with both Dem and GOP support.

And Trump lies like a dog. Every business where I live was open normally as was the city government.

In fact, no private sector business is required by law to close for any holiday.

I worked in the private sector for almost 50 years. Never once did I get Veterans Day off.

It really is, isn’t it?

Our entire culture is permeated by some weird notion that the purpose of life is to work ridiculous amounts of hours. With minimum time for oneself or one’s family, friends, interests, etc.

It’s so very weird.
Yep. The identification of oneself to work is really bizarre to me. I understand why business owners would want their workers to think this way, but outside of that it makes no sense in terms of one's quality of life.

The guy leaving work early today, with multiple large-scale issues going on, to go his own golf resort on our dime wants to lecture us on people not wanting holidays. GTFO to the guy who'd be "too busy" to golf.

Yes. Which proves the article title and bullet point summary for their mouth breather readers are lies.

Which part is a lie?

  • President Donald Trump criticized the number of US holidays and said they cost the country billions.
  • The post was made on Juneteenth, a federal holiday that Trump previously supported.
  • Joe Biden later said making it a federal holiday was "one of the proudest moments of my presidency."

Quoting Trump is a lie? Please explain.
They didn't quote Trump in the article title or in the bullet list for mouth breathers. They completely misrepresented what he said. I don't know what more you need explained to you.
