Olympics is a joke... (1 Viewer)

Well, it is always best to post on topic.

Now, get back to whining about people whining about the whining of the OP.

You ARE the one whining about people who are "whining about people", whining about the facts of the OP. LOL

Yeah, we agree. Whining about whining is the topic of the OP.

They aren't professional sports. There are things kids do after school to hang out.

Nothing. It just shouldn't be an Olympic Event. Neither should artistic dance. Why not everything then?

Break dancing is in... what about jump roping or 4-Square... what about bowling?

.

Ha, don’t mock jump rope, it’s actually already a competitive sport and has been for a number of years. It’s more than just what kids do after school to hang out.

My daughter was a competitive jumper, she competed nationally and internationally.

They had tried to make it into the Olympics back then but apparently in order to compete in the Olympics there has to be a minimum number of countries competing in the sport, at the time there were about 20 -25 countries competing in jump rope which didn’t meet the minimum. That was about ten years ago, don’t know what it is now. If I’m not mistaken it’s considered an observer sport as far as the Olympics.

They hold their own version of Olympics, World Championships, that are usually the same year as the Olympics are held.

There’s some dang good athletes involved, a mix of speed, gymnastics in different types of events, all using a rope.

Honestly, that’s what the Olympics should be about, not just professional sports and/or paid professionals.

My girlfriend in High School was Captain of Tall Flags. They competed internationally as well. Should not be an Olympic Event.

I remember hearing that there are no countries that participate in the Olympics. There are National Olympic Committees (NOCs) though, that represent a country.

It should be about tradition and just because a sport is popular does not mean it should be Olympic.

That is just me. Obviously jump roping and BMX and surfing require great skill... have their own Super Bowl like they do.
