A judge in Ohio struck down parts of the state's 6-week abortion ban.

The reich-wing got stopped.

reich-wing
So you consider abortion being illegal to be a particularly Nazi thing? You know abortion was illegal before Roe in plenty of states, right? And also that Nazi Germany had exceptions that allowed abortions, right?

Defending the behavior of the Talibangelicals is unacceptable.

For your reference, the Nazis allowed abortion up to the end of the first 12 weeks. The talibangelicals only allow six weeks.

The reich-wing is not going to stick its nose into people's medical decisions.

About as meaningless an argument as anyone can make. It's like saying, "You know, being homosexual in the military was illegal before 2011, right?"

So what?

Just pointing out that it's not particularly "Nazi" despite how much the left likes making ridiculous Nazi references whenever they disagree with someone.

A new definition of insanity - heading into a hotly contested election and trying to force through deeply unpopular legislation to satisfy the religious beliefs of a minority of voters.

Point taken - but it is not one iota different, nor any more idiotic, than how often the right accuses the left of socialism and communism.

It's in the hands of the states, which are led by their own democratically elected legislatures. That is far more democratic than legislating from the SCOTUS bench. That's literally half a dozen appointees deciding it for the entire country.

Circumstantial. I don't think all such accusations are irrational, the same way I don't think all Nazi-type accusations are irrational. I just think THIS ONE is.

After all these decades of the right and evangelicals saying that life begins at conception they're going to lose elections and then give in and allow abortions up to a certain point.

They will have to come together and allow SOME murders TO WIN.

Which means they were full of shit the entire time.

EXACTLY!! And this is where their bullshit argument falls apart at the seams. Why is the fetus of a 14 year old girl who was raped by her uncle any less worthy of life than that of the happily married wife who already has two kids and doesn't want another? Aren't the "rights" of the two fetuses the same??

Anyone who isn't religiously myopic, and can see all the way to the horizon, realizes that the only place this is headed in a sane world is that women must be given total autonomy over their own bodies - period. Nothing else makes any sense in a developed civilization. But that day can't come soon enough.

The democratic process when the state legislatures know that their legislation might be deeply unpopular is to take it to a public referendum. Especially when there is a perfect opportunity for the referendum within the next few months. What the state legislatures are doing by forcing through legislation to satisfy their own personal beliefs, that they know damn well won't survive a public referendum, is not a democratic process. It is an abuse of power that will harm many people before it can eventually be corrected by the democratic process.

The Nazis allowed 12 weeks before banning it.

The talibangelical terrorists only wanted to allow 6 weeks.

You're not helping your argument.

Be well.

The original decision was designed to keep the talibangelicals in check.

I never realized that evangelicals use to be Pro-Choice. I never realized that Jerry Falwell started this entire argument because he wanted to save money on taxes.

The entire thing just pisses me off.

Jerry Falwell was ALWAYS a swine. He was also a fascist, and this is evidenced by his loss in that legal fight with Penthouse Magazine.
The entire thing just pisses me off.
Me too.

Why is the left so certain that the red state people don't actually want the law to be like this? Why do they assume the elected officials of the red states somehow don't represent the wishes of the red state citizens, and that they and their leftist commie buddies know better?

Why do Democrats/leftists/liberals hate the democratic process so much? The US isn't even that democratic, being a constitutional republic, but even the few decisions left to the states cause them immense anguish.

Because every time that theory has been tested so far, the legislators have been proved wrong. Surely watching other equally red states, who do take it to referendum, find that the people don't want the super restrictive laws, is more than enough indication that at least going to referendum would be the right action to take. With an election already coming, and the incredible ease of taking the referendum during the election, why aren't they doing it??

Every time what theory was tested? Is there some sort of a log of these?

Because that's how the officials elected by the people of those states decided to handle it. If those people don't like it, they can vote them out of office.

Lots of information available if you aren't to lazy to look! You can even see which deep red states have actually already asked their citizens this question, and had decisive replies. Want to guess what those replies said??

Meantime, the people are stuck with laws they don't want until the legislators come up for re-election. You still haven't answered why they won't take such a divisive issue to referendum at the pending elections?

Ten states are holding referundums this Roevember on keeping abortion safe and legal so, we are about to find out whether the legislators in those abortion banning red states are reflecting the will of the people or their own churches religious dogma.
