A big issue (which is hush-hush in the MSM) is pretty simple...
One can SAY that Obama wasn't corrupt and not directly part of the Chicago thug politics, but Obama also didn't live in a vacuum...
The question is "Was Obama oblivious to his surroundings?"
Obama, Emanuel, and Blagojevich were all main forces in Illinois, yet when Blago's corruption was recently revealed, Obama came out and pretended like he just showed up on earth yesterday and would've NEVER thought that Blago could do something like that...(Just like his reaction to Reverend Wright and Tony Resko)...
And that's BS. You know it and I know it...Obama could've been the squeakiest, cleaniest legislator in history, but you can't tell me he was so naive that he didn't know what was going on around him...
Let's say you're neighbor hates the guy living across the street and asks to borrow your chainsaw so he can cut up the guy's family...Because you're not a complete psycho, you decline...
Now obviously, you did the right thing (and I doubt it was a challenge...at least I hope so!)...
But are you DONE?...Is your participation in this situation complete?...
Hell no!...It is your DUTY to report the request to the proper authorities...If that family was harmed...in any fashion...YOU are guilty of not preventing it...You ALLOWED any future possibilities to happen because you did nothing to stop it even though you KNEW it could happen...
That's the situation we have with Obama...He might not have done anything overtly illegal, unethical, or outright disgusting...But at the same time, he was COMPLICIT...
Defenders can easily say "He was playing the game, and if he didn't, he wouldn't rise like he did if he didn't keep his mouth shut."...That's possibly true...maybe even probably...
But the response is also easy..."Is that the choice you're willing your preident-elect to select?...To allow corruption and deceit around you as long as you don't make ripples and it doesn't effect you directly?...
What Blago did was, obviously, reprhensible...But if anyone thinks that this was a first-time offense and he was never this type of person before ("Not the Blago I knew"), then you're fooling yourself...And even if you DO somehow believe that, then you're admitting that Obama...one of the self-declared "architects" of Blago's election campaign...has to be one of the most naive people on the face of this planet...
It may work the same way with the current issue of what Obama and/or his aides knew about Blago's recent escapade...If Blago offered the seat to Obama for some sort of reimbursement (either directly or indirectly) and Obama declined (either directly or indirectly), that's the right thing to do...commendable even...
But if he didn't IMMEDIATELY go to the US Department of Justice with this, he's as guilty as the scenario I supplied above with the chainsaw...By NOT reporting it, he was allowing any further corruption having to do with his vacant Senate seat (or anything else) to happen...If Blago succeeded in selling it off in some other fashion with some other legislator, Obama would've ALLOWED it to come to fruition by not preventing it...
It was only through an ongoing investigation had Blago's attempts been known...Had there not been an investigation that started long before Obama was even voted in, Blago could've tried to sell the seat, Obama saying "no", and Obama refusing to report the attempt allowing the governor to continue his disgusting ways in the highest office of the state...and no one would've known any better...
Judgement and character...
