One of the many issues raging across the US is Obamacare. All the conseratives are squawking: It's socialist, it's a plot, it's bad, etc.... However, I am inclined to ask, do we even know what Obamacare is? I know that it provides health care to all citizens, but then, other countries like the Nordic countries, etc... already have all-health care systems. Nobody can accuse Norway, Sweden, Finland, etc... of being socialist or having a massive plot. Do we even know what Obamacare really is while we're debating? Or are we basically regurgitating what politicians have told us?

Obamacare is simply a health care system that is accessable to everyone and benefits those who lack the money to pay for high medical costs and medical insurance. And those who cry 'OMG Socialism!" are idiots who fail to understand that a society of people acting like a society is not socialism, it's basic empathy and altruism.

Obamacare doesn't provide health insurance to all citizens. it attempts to coerce all citizens into purchasing private health insurance, that is true; but the two are hardly the same. no one is claiming it is a single-payer system (though plenty have pointed out that this is the end goal).

Well, where did you get that idea?

It's actually pretty easy to argue that Sweden or Norway are socialistic countries.

Obamacare, on the other hand, is actually pretty conservative in its reaches. I actually laugh at conservatives who cry socialism at it because of how pitifully it accomplishes anything.

Plus there's all the random Republican amendments in it that are fun to read when you come across them. Health, bureaucracy, bam something about gun rights.

Obamacare is like a mission. It should be given some time to prove their ability. Conclution can not be drawn in a short time. It might give successful results after some years.
